My first S2 that i had way back in about 1992 was the first car i drove that showed an indicated 140 on the clock
Was probably only about a genuine 120 though
Quite an achievement to get a genuine 160 out of one though

i "think" one of the SVM cars (svm320 ??? ) did 160 something, but im sure christian or someone who knows the records etc could confirm that
the black one (svm 286) did 158 or 159 iirc, then the bonnet hit the screen

Bet he shit his pants when that happened
Had this happen to me once after i drove off without closing the bonnet properly, got up to around 50 or 60 and just happened to notice the front edge of the bonnet lifting when a car came past me from the oncoming direction, couldn't manage to get slowed down quick enough before a lorry behind the first car went past then one fucking almighty bang and it went pitch dark !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fucked bonnet, smashed screen, bent hinges, broken plastic scuttle panel and dented roof
Was a 2.0 GLS Sapphire that i had just repaired and all and was looking mint until this happened

Sunnys car is due to make a come backat some point this year hopefully.
Paul Johnsons car has been split and he is in possesion of Ian Howells focus.
My car should be ready for spring and a 180+ should in therory be acheivable.

What did actually happen to that white SVM Rs turbo ? The one wit the jacked up rear & Venoms Heard it alledegly run an 11 then no one see it again !
Why is the black SVM car not a 160 mph car out of interest ? ? ?
Also, who remembers the Power Engineering Red S2 that Mervyn owned, 300hp they said & that was way back in the day (still mfi I think ?) & was on cover of Max Power etc !
Liked that car
And how can ANYBODY forget Oz from Turbo Touch's Escort ! ! ! Fastest Rs turbo ever with a 24 sec 0-60 !

Apparently the svm car had so much torque the chassis would twist off the line.
And he never really drove it in anger because it was so fast it scared the shit out of him.

Ive just managed to dig out the old fastford magazine that featured the white SVM car. The timing slip printed shows....
Reaction... 3.150
1/8 ET... 7.545
1/8 MPH...87.02
1/4 ET... 11.994
1/4 MPH...110.89
He used some sort of Armtech launch control and ran 10psi in the front tyres.
From the magazine..
"The times dropped to a 13.6second run in August, followed by another 13.6 the next week at York Raceway...But later the same day Nathan posted a time of 11.994 seconds."
Who knows, but thats a HUGE drop in time in one day

the 3.5 second reaction could indicate he was making sure he got the perfect start, as the timing does not start until you move, so the reaction time does not really matter that much.
And it's only just over a second improvement, getting the run hooked up perfectly at the start would give a huge gain if the previous runs had been a bit wheelspinny.
Or could be bollox

It does show a 60 foot on the timing slip, but you can't read the time due to someone who had the slip/printing the magazine, circling the the times, and drawing over the 60ft time

I was actually at yor the day the car ran an 11.994
I saw the run happen and to be honest it didn't seem different to any of his other runs that day so I suspect it was an issue with the timeing gear, yorks timing gear was/is pretty reliable I never had an issue with it during several years of racing there..
all grown up now tho I like going round corners!lol
