i have built my new pc, and installed media centre 2005, but it wont play DVD's as it would seem i dont have the software to process them

can anyone tell me where on the web i can get this software for free so i can start watching DVD's through my pc?

I always find my codecs at http://www.free-codecs.com/

i use vso. its is great for converting downloads and films. the download is free. if you get it drop me a pm an i can send you the code to use it properly.

cheers guys, will ahve to look this up after work on my pc at home, so its just a case of when i have installed the above, the DVD's will play in media centre??

I had a codec problem last year and I fixed it by using the k-lite codec pack. I only found it by accident but it should do the trick. If you can't find it I still have a copy I can and try and send to you.

I personally use VLC player to play things. I havent found any format it wont play including 3gp,mp4's etc.

You can use Nero (Showtime), VLC, PowerDVD,WinDVD etc to watch dvd's on your PC

Also, to add to that list : Media Player Classic + Zoomplayer - Zoomplayer won't play DVD's unless you "purchase" the full version
