SQL server - back end stuff
Anyone got any links or info I can read up on, I dont NEED to know the ins and outs, but when it comes to my job, I like to know more than I need to if you get me.
Not so fussed on the SQL language and queries, just how the servers interact with the clients, services and service packs required for installations, and just general info really.
For example, I know you have instances inside sql servers, which can be seperate entitys, but just trying to get round in my head how everything reacts with each other.
So if anyone has an e-book of "dummies guide to sql server" that would be great

virtual servers are shite imho... the company I used to work for used to run thousands of them with Plesk and Virtuozzo products from swsoft and they were forever having issues.
SQL upgrades screwed over the control panel and the resource usage was so high that they required rebooting on a regular basis.
I don't have ebook but I still work for a hosting company so if you have any questions your welcome to message me and I will try to help

I use a language called Coldfusion by Macromedia to interact with SQL servers through the web.
Not many clients use Microsoft SQL server due to costs, MySQL is free so a lot of people use that but Coldfusion can talk to both.
It's tag based like HTML so quite easy to pick up.
Dont bother with virtual servers if you are using it commercially.

SQL isnt going to be a language I personally try and use, just something I want to know. Well, just the basics really.
I know what I want to know but hard to say, so might just ask at work tomorrow
Just wondered if there was an SQL stuff knocking around, stuff not including 3rd parties
