Default Ref NOISE RESTRICTIONS @ BEDFORD !!!!!!

I've just checked back for the days we held in 2005 and 2006 and they were both......

87 drive by
101 static

This has been confirmed by CossieHelen who phoned MSV and Martin H who found it on MSV's website.

So panic over as this year is the same as 2005 and 2006!!!!!

Only problem with failing the static is YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON TRACK

Get some kind of bung or extra silencer made up now IMHO, as they were tight on it last time I was there (2 years back)

I will be running a bung inside my exhaust which is a pain as it really seems to kill the power (surprisingly noticeable), but it does help keep the noise down to 99/100db on the static.

Better to prep something now rather than chance it or fail it on the day.

Not true SiB. I believe they give you a red sticker to say you failed the static but allow you on track. They then keep a close eye on you to see if you fail the drive by.

Depending on which way the wind is blowing, they sometimes reduce the static to 85.5db. Happened a few years ago when SIDC held a trackday there.

Can't mimic drive by because i don't know where the meter is......as in how close to the track etc...

Old can was 98 static - so have halved it... with the new one and the dono drive by its was 101 but the meter is right next to the track...

Croft was 98 static and less than 92 drive by....

Both were at full boost and am turning it down....so lets hope its gonna be ok.

Dingy, the Meter is at 20 meters according to what Martin posted yesterday.

Still no chance for me, as mine is stupidly loud at the moment, definately need to get more silencing onto it for next year.

Helen, I hope you have a good time

You can get intake noise issues though, unfiltered throttle bodies or carbs can be very noisey.

Thats a nonsense, for the same power level a N/A car tends to be louder than a turbo one, as the turbo itself acts as quite a good silencer in fact, plus you dont have massive induction roar from a set of throttle bodies!

i'll rephrase it for the picky

205 GTI 1.9* or GTI6* is the way to go, NO noise issue then

* using std inlet, not TB's or Carb's

lol I think some people need to get out more dont you Steve?
Not at all, its STILL bollocks.

205Gti Turbo technics for example is QUIETER (as in not noisier....) for the same power level as an N/A 205gti.

You are REALLY missing the point, N/A cars arent quiet at all, unless they are slow N/A cars
and slow turbo cars are MEGA quiet.

No NO NO!

YOU are REALLY missing the point! It wasn't a statement of fact, purely a tongue in cheek comment regarding the fact that you are all struggling with big powerful turbo cars yet us tiny powered n/a cars don’t have to worry.

blimmy its hard work this morning!
