My Tom-Tom has got camera locations (710) and I sold my Road Angel as I thought I didn't need it any more. How wrong I was......I don't trust the camera alerts on Tom-Tom, it misses most and picks them up if they're facing the other way etc. As a sat nav it's superb, but as a camera detector it's shite. I bought another Road Angel.

Been hearing that Tomtoms can be a bit ropey, and also that neither them or Garwins can find mobile cameras....

Buy a basic sat nav mate and get a separate Road Angel. Bit messy on the dash I agree but both bases are then covered

I've thought of that but would rather not.... Always swapping between cars so keeping it down to one unit is ideal

the GaMins have all speed camera locations and most areas were the toempory ones are used, hence why is give you alerts when there is seemingly nutin there.

but, tbh, just get the new road angel, its pretty small, and maybe get a headunit with satnav if your really bothered abhout space? but, atm, there is NO decent sat nav that can do both.... i sell em.

They ain't boring mate driving round lost looking for speed cameras is boring ! Yeah the Road Angel Navigator, I never thought of that. Speed cameras it'll be good for but no idea how it performs as a sat nav.

Are they all as shit as the one I've just bought?!

Bought a Road Angel Navigator as it does Camera vans and has a GPS speedo etc..... but fuck me is it slow to pick up a signal!

Been told that you have to sit stationary for about 5 minites til it locks on to a satellite!!!! Sorry but I have got the time or patience for that......
If I drive away it sometimes locks on within seconds, or it'll take ten minutes... or just not at all!

Do they all do this kinda crap?

My tomtom does, seems to have to warm up.
The longer it's been switched off the longer it takes to wake up.
Maybe have it on for a few minutes a day or something, even if not using it.

Go for tomtom mate. Ive always had tomtom and used all the others before and you cant beat the tomtoms in my opinion. I do a good few thousand miles a week and use it day in day out, and its spot on. Its not failed to pick a single camera up yet (not mobile ones, although it does give you warnings for popular spots for them). Mines one of the newer ones, the 520 with traffic, and i price matched it at halfords at £180, although it may be cheaper now.

As regards speed, mine gets a signal the second i switch it on, no problem at all.

Yerp Tomtom deffo the best.... Yes cust serv is crap... But the unit is the best on the market...

Also Pocketgpsworld.com is the best speed camera database in the world....

Its updated by the people that use it, All mobile locations that i know of are already on it.... I prob would'nt have a licence by now if I didnt have it because of a few sneaky cunts in camera vans hiding...

I've got a TomTom one and don't really have any complaints about it - piece of piss to use, reliable, only got me lost once from the directions not being clear (was a busy/difficult one way system with multiple exits, and to be fair, was probably my error anyway ) and only a couple times has it not recognised roads (one time it told me I wasn't on the A10 when I was, but it thought I was in a field about 300yrds away from the A10 )

I can put camera locations on it using an aftermarket database with one simple, quick, FREE download (I just update it every six months, so two downloads a year, can do more if you like) which also includes known "hotspots" for mobile camera's, but no, it doesn't detect mobile camera's like a Snooper or RoadAngle does....
