Ye thats about right, it gets me when people say there an "investment", 20 years on and the most expensive mintest series1 i have seen is 16k.

Now yes it looks like it doubled in price but what was the value of 8k back then to what 16k is in todays money

Well, I remember the price because I bought a Series 1 from my local Ford dealers (Currie Motors in Kingston-upon-Thames).......Was the first brand new car I even owned....

Ive got the rs turbo collectors special magazine from a few years ago, according to that, the s1 was £8500 for the motorsport model, £9250 for the custom model, and for the s2, it says £10028 for the 88 spec, which rose to £13985 for the 90 spec.

I actually prefer the look of standard Series 2 now, black or red in mint codition would do.

Was'nt stolen - I think I kept it for 3 years, then sold it with 38 k miles.

Those prices we're at launch with a choice of basic and lux models (B reg) as you say.....then a year later the C reg cars we're custom only at £ 10,495.

My one on the left.........Roger Binyon's on the right:
