HELP plug wire configuration???

HELP plug wire configuration???
Just a quick question about plug wires,ive got a gotech loom but some plugs have been cut off 
ive got plugs from an old loom so need to swap plugs from one to another but obviously wire colours are not the same so need to know how i determine positive wires from negative i.e do all solid coloured wires on ford engine looms run a current or is it the split coloured wires??? Any help would be appreciated as i want to get my car back on the road at the weekend as its been off the road for 5 months with engine management problems
