Default urgent need a new two post ramp motor

went to lift two poster ramp tonight and think the motors burnt out its real hot ramp goes up and down with no car on but wont lift anything..

need one asap got 2 cars with dead clutches sat outside

its a hofmann 3 phase 2 post ramp

is the drive belt tight at the top mine did this , simple adjustment sorts them out

take the motor off, and take it to a motor supplier! i bet they would have one off the shelf for you!

take a photo of the terminal box, and i could help you run a few tests on it!

we will take it out tomorow got some bloke popping over for a look to help advice.

handy to know if motors are readily available etc, chances of getting one from machine mart etc?

Probably much cheaper to get your motor recon'd...

I hope my motor doesn't pop! Only just had my hoffman installed!

looked for nearest suppliers shops etc listed 3 diff places within 10 miles, ill call all 3 of em in morning

I have a 3 phase motor that I took off a bradbury lift, foot mounted and if i remember correctly is 3 or 3.5kw

I have two Hoffman's and other than tightening the belts once in a blue moon they have been fine.

this ones deffo gone some how, to be honest it was sticking every now and then we would have to lower a sec then raise to get lift, only every now and then, but even still was unexpected to us


just hope we can get a motor, either new or repaired.


if it costs 500 then it costs 500 we just need it fixed tomorrow lol

can only take a pic moro but to be honest lets face it 100 quid fix in a couple days or a 500 quid fix today we would pick the latter.

ok yer if i can take a pic moro post it tomoorow eve you say yep fits were come get it moro night but if someone offers to have it working tomorrow daytime we will pay


just need it fixed asap but yes mate ill take a couple snaps cheers

Very wide! You can get a car on like my Pajero and still walk down both sides!!

I better check the belts - the do squeek a little under load.

went in this morning and it worked i can only presume a phase had gone down in the road somewere or similar, but hurray at no cost were back earning the pennies again

If the motor is supplied via a flexible cable onto the lift, it's the cable that's broken on one core.
It'll work o.k for a while then pack up again and again and again.

If the motor is fixed to the lift support, it could be the connections to it, the contactors controlling it or a loose connection anywhere.
It needs checking out, loosing an incoming phase in the road does happen but it's more likely something else causing the problem

Have you got a roller door or anything else powered on 3 phase? Coz obviously that wouldhave stopped working too....

nothing else 3 phase, but aparantly some shops lost power too so ill put 2 and 2 together and hope that was the cause
