Default Bike vs Artic (Graphic pics in link)

I've seen some horrific accident pics and this certainly isn't the goriest by far, but still probably one of the most shocking I have seen.

*GRAPHIC PIC WARNING*

I think he'll need more than Aspirin to fix that headache.

There is a guy in the thread saying "thats why i hate bikes" yeh because if you would have hit a truck as hard as that in a car you would have been fine!

Really makes you think though

To be fair though, to hit a truck like that on a bike, your dead, end of.

To hit a truck like that in a car, there's a fairly good chance you'll survive. You're just so vulnerable on a bike.

No, I'd say they got dragged off in the mile that the lorry travelled with that guy hanging out the back.

I was thinking the same, would have thought if he slammed into the back of the truck at 120 he would have been in a million bits !!! Either that or ended up going straight through the back doors !!!

Dont suppose he knew much about it though, might have been a case of OH FUCK....... BANG !!!

This is true, I want to slap people that say I hate bikes because they are dangerous!! A bike is only as dangerous as the person riding it or the idiot in a car that doesn't look for bikes and pulls out!! Any vehicle is dangerous in the wrong hands. Rant over.

Err what he said, I think this is a staged shot, if that was a 120mph impact he would have done more damage to his body other than poking his head through the roller shutter, also I couldn't see much damage from the motor cycle impact, its a wind up

If he was travelling at 120mph and the truck was travelling at 70mph, then it wasn't a 120mph impact, was it?

Yes you are correct but if the HGV's in the states are anything like the HGV's this side of the pond they won't do 70 mph, more like restricted to 55 mph, I still think its a stage shot can't see any damage left by the bike and the guy is too intact

When I went to Vegas, travelling down the interstate to Boulder City, HGV's were passing us like we were stood still, and we were cracking on at 65-70mph - definately no restrictions over there, also no side impact barriers below the cargo area infront of the wheels on US trailers neither

When the page was loading I saw the first pic of the bloke at the back of the trailer and thought "whats up with him standing there with no shoes on"

Give him a course of Paracetamoxyfrusobendroneomycin and he will be fine

I just can't see how you can say that. Take a look at the 4th pic down. That big box-frame on the back of the trailer is all bent in. Even if you say that it was a 70mph impact, I'd say what happened there is very likely.

In the ones I have seen where there has been more speed and the biker has hit a stationary object, they are often still recognisable as a person, just with limbs off etc.

Surely staged?
His body would have beat into back of the wagon and legs gone under, with or without rest of him I'd have thought.
Are blood marks on rear bar though.
Rear bumper is bent, take a fucking lot to do that, they're solid; could just be like that before of course, or if staged clever thinking.
I dunno, for a bike to bend that bar like that, rider would be in many pieces.

Artic driver I know thought he'd run over an animal, felt the bump etc.
Pulled over and rear wheels and axle etc were covered in blood, then saw the clothes, was a bloke!

Stretched & snapped spine anyone?

Also i know nothing about bike manufacture but, i imagine lorry chassis are made of a slightly stronger metal than a motorbike? Alu v Steel? Which would explain the minimal damage to the trailer?
