Deffo should have zero tolerance like the US. It DOES work.

I was in New York in June last year having a quiet meal with the missus in Chicago Rock Cafe and they wouldnt serve me a beer because I had no ID - and i'm fookin 27!!!!!! Pished me right off!!!!

In newton abbott a certain pub / club that i cant remember the name of ID checks EVERYONE before you get inside the place, no ID no entry, im 21 and im huge and i had to go back to my car to get ID before they would let me in.

As a result it was the only club with no kids in it

Raising to 21 will help, as someone that will have bought drinks for kids may have grown up a bit by the age of 21 and would then not do it.

It does work in the US but the 21 drinking age has been in force for quite sometime 20yrs+

So nothing is going to work overnight

heard a woman got 6months for supplying booze to her daughter and her friends on graduation.
if they do raise the age limit they have to enforce it big time, zero tolorence.

if it gets a few fucking idiots of the strets like the twats who kicked that dads head in then i'm all for it,,as my dad always told me"you shouldn't drink on an empty head!".

Another ridiculous, un-enforceable law.

More community coppers on the streets to pull up these little Pollards and pour their drink down the drain in front of them is whats needed but it aint going to stop it.

They'll stop drinking and start getting Skunked out of their tiny minds, those who arent already..... its easy to see someone drinking a bottle of Cider White but who's going to stop someone with a fag on ?

Alternatively... a radical idea, give these little fookers something to do.

Thats true. Plus there a bunch of lazy sods

When i was younger me and my mates would spend most of our time playing football until it was too dark to see, not standing in town drinking and smoking.

I reckon the no ID no drink idea is a good one to be fair. It's pointless charging the parents because some of the kids don't care about anyone, not even their parents. So it probably wouldn't stop some, admittedly it would stop most.

Same happened to me in Las Vegas the first year I went. One thing I noticed was, In vegas its an adults playground with free drinks when you gamble but you never see anybody pissed causing fights, arguments etc.. like you would in the average spanish holiday resort in summer time.

Superb idea and it should be enforced far more than it is at present. I have friends who are doormen and from what they have said to me and what I have seen it's always the youngsters that drink too much and cause havoc.

As for the underage kids drinking in the streets and generally behaving like little thugs the law should come down on them like a ton of bricks and their parents made to deal with them. For a start parents of tear a way kids should be made to pay to repair the graffiti and phone boxes that their little darlings deface or damage. I know I would have only need one bollocking from my Dad if he'd had to pay for somebody elses property to never do it a second time.

I think its the parents who should be targeted too. Its bad parenting imo, that's all it is. It's not the kids that get up to no good its just parents being dicks.

I am actually scared of my dad and have too much respect for him to go around doing shit like that and one stern telling off from him I'd never do anything again. Kids have no respect for anyone these days. Should learn some

I only ever got asked for ID once whilst in New York, and that was the first time I was out there (I was 24 at the time) and was asked by the door man of a bar for ID, but once inside none of the bartenders asked me.

Second time I was out there (25) I was in Hard Rock Cafe and asked for a beer and wasn't ID'd.....

the pub i drink in asks for id from EVERYONE but its incase of trouble,,,,, the owner said that if people aint willing to let them know who you are then they will cause more issues

tbh ive NEVER seen a fight in there,,,,, and theres a few people who go there who could

asking for id seems to work,,,,, not for underage drinking as i used to get asked for id,,,,,, and im a old cunt and LOOK a older cunt

underage drinking,,,,, sorry but PARENTING is the issue, i used to drink at a young age due to my parents not being bothered unless THEY was bothered,,,,,, and even then it was just to save face,,,, when i was at home they was too busy worring about there lives to care about mine

remeber your kids and look after them,, that way they WILL remember you

i remember doing something, and my dad had to pay for it, never again,
like when i had my car at 15/6 if i took it out of the drive that was it, ect.

tell you now tho, i'm glad i was brought up properly and not some arsehole smashing windows killing people ect

and i only drink beer at birthdays and not alot as i hate this stuff

The only way to stop underage drinking is to lower the age so it doesnt count as under age

haighlsby for prime minister

just enforcing the laws we have at the moment would be a start.
zero tollerence for everything with strict punishments rather than the softly softly appraoch of the liberal left that clearly is ruining society.

Totally agree with the 21 yrs old limit.....

Another thing though:
They tell there parents that they are staying at there fellow chavs house and then they are just gonna cram round 22 year old Vicky Pollards Council flat that she got on the social for being a single mum. Consume all her alcohol that she bought from netto during her weekly shop in return for a few smokes of skunk or a chance of a leg over and then go out on the rampage.
No parents are involved in that senario....

the ones saying blame the parents will be the ones with no kids. exactly how do you keep track of a teenager if they tell you one thing then get up to something else?

S'pose if your 21+ looks all good.

As said though, under-age smoking, sex, drinking & drug taking (hard & soft) is, and always has been the norm' in this country.

So ( Pubs maybe) what's gonna' change to enforce this law, when current laws are so blatently flouted??

Lets face it, its the chav culture that is to blame mainly. Its the "good ol brits" evolving. We have been a nation of drinkers ever since the medieval times of parties at the kings castle with mead and wine. I personally cant see a way of eradicating the problem totally. How can you educate the ineducated? I mean, how can you educate "Johnny Chav" that drinking more than your weekly recommended units of acohol in one night and go bashing people is bad. If his mum and dad do it, there mum and dad did it, there mums and dads parents did... etc etc etc......

I would love to see something done about it, but the question is..... what...

Think alot of people are missing the point, the guy who kicked the victim in the head, was on police bail for a string of offences, and one of his conditions was to leave his district, but he went straight back to his drop out mates. Drink was not the only contributor to the death, they had smoked dope all day. What i am saying is a wrong one, is a wrong one, the reason I explain is, we had a similar case here a few years ago when a friends uncle was kicked to death after an afternoons drinking and the culprits were 25 yrs old. Under age drinking is a problem I agree, but violence thru drink happens at all ages. If you raise alcohol ages, its just another profit maker for the scum bags to sell to the kids, half the kids in my village drink cans they have nicked off their parents.

I do feel for the family.

Its the same old thing. They think banning/making it harder to get hold off is going to solve the problem. We banned hand guns after the Dunblane incident. That has clearly worked . Laws only apply to those that want to abide them.

See now, here's the the thing..... I'm 25 years old now. When I was 14/15 me and my friends discovered cider and would meet in the park and get pissed. We'd have a right laugh and we'd get drunk, maybe cop off if there were some like minded girls about, and then go home.

That was it. No going round kicking off, no vandalising people's property. We were kids for fucks sakes yet we knew we went out Friday night and had a laugh getting pissed and then we went home. That was that. You didn't go round causing trouble, it just wasn't what you did.

Because of that, I know that blaming the drink is just a cop out. These kids are doing the exact same things at 2pm in the aft when the're bunking off school as they're doing at 11pm on Friday night. Drunk or sober, they are menaces.

It really is because these kids are not brought up properly anymore. There's simply no other reasonable explanation. Jesus, if I had been taken home by the police I'd have been terrified of the good hiding I'd get. These days the police take the kids home when they catch them upto no good and the parents lay into them.

Unfortunately I don't see that things can ever be changed. It's all too far gone.

21 year age limit, what planet did you lot fall off.
It's ok for someone under this age to go and get shot at in this immigrant overun country, in the name of defence but not have a shandy, seems really fair that does.
The problem is the PARENTS/GOVERNMENT.
The gov have made it bad, with not allowing "minors" to be indentified even if they have stabbed someone to death, the gov line is not responsible for thier actions until 16, NEITHER ARE THIER PARENTS it seems.
The parents should carry the can as though they did the crime until the little brat/s carries it himself, this would solve MOST of the PARENT problem, if the parents are tossers, the kid has not much chance of being anything else, if that is all he/she has known.
Do you really think the government are that bothered ?, results and actions speak louder than words.
The gov don't give a shit about us mere mortals, they only concern themselves with themselves.
The latest health craze restricting healthcare, to the very people who pay for it, ie smokers/drinklers etc how mcuh tax do they get on cigs and booze, more than it costs the NHS in treatment by a hell of a long way.
If we all stopped drinking and smoking and polutting withour cars, by not using them this country would be on it's knees.
Maybe just my cynical view, but there you go.
