Could be a variety of things, but most probably the motor having a current surge to get it going.

Put up the detilas of motor out of instructions or model no. of the treadmill and i'll have a look.

Is the RCD the incommer or are you on RCBO's on your outgoing ways?

you need a type-b breaker for motors because of the start up current

Not sure if it's always done it as it was given to a friend of mine, then he gave it straight to me, just tried it and it tripped the RCD

Is it tripping the RCD incommer i.e. all the power in the house goes off, lights, cooker etc or is it just that ring (RCBO) i.e. just the upstairs or downstairs sockets.

It's tripping the upstairs and downstairs sockets, dont think it tripped the lights as when i flicked the RCD back on i had to flick one of the MCB's back on and i think it was for sockets.

Sounds like you have a split load board if the lights stayed on and 2 devices tripped.

I'd suggest spending 40 a month and going to a gym lol

Having had a quick look on the net the motors dont tend to be that large and most of them are soft start. Largest start up I came across was 10A which should not give you a problem. There could be a fault with the unit re leakages etc but could not say for sure.
