We discovered that someone hijacked Mike Rainbird's account and started using it to stir up all kinds of trouble. As of right now, all admin and moderator accounts except mine, Petrucci, and Stu @ M Developments have been locked out.

Stu will be checking on things tomorrow when he has time. Until then, unfortunately, I can't provide further details.

i only ask as a concerened paid up site member coz things seem to be going hill rapidly and so far we have been told diddly squat imo we dont just need told about whats occured tonight,we need to know whats happening with the site in general

rauri, the weather is about 28 today, so not too hot, but its muggy out there, early day for me and im indoors with the aircon on,lol

josh, im only going from when i was online this morning ( my time ) and there was a post from stu about him standing down, and all the mods seemed to have been banned, and i know for a fact a mod cant ban another mod, i tried it when i first became one back in the day,lol

would be good though, even though stu doesnt admin this site no more ( but still can when he wants too ) to give me back my moderators powers

Amusingly it was only a couple of days ago that me and john were talking about how the only way to flush out the new admin to actually post for once was probably to hack the site

Seriously though, all joking aside, at least we now know there IS someone (cars2007) running the place.

hopefully when the dust of tonights humour settles, they can introduce themselves properly, and the site can get back to normal with them running it.

easier than you think if you know a reasonable amount about scripting and stuff,there are sites on the web that list expliots that can be used to hack sites

Last time it was very easy, it was a published exploit that was all over the web with instructions, and the site admin (pet at the time) just hadnt done the security patch.

So we just made a point out of it, and to be fair to Pet, it shocked him into action and he patched the site up properly with all the security updates, so fingers crossed that happens again now.

If the site (doesnt seem to be much "if" about it TBH) has been bought as a commerical entity then I would imagine that taking security seriously makes a lot of commerical sense so will happen from this point forward fingers crossed.

Im sure they have backups anyway of course, but better to not have to use them in the first place!

cars2007 joined the forum in Jun2007 mate, that doesnt sound like any of the mods to me, sounds more like about the time that IB started showing an interest in PF, going by what was said on here anyway.

if all the staff were banned and possibly had passwords changed then using an unused account and giving it admin powers is the easy way to regain control and reset the other staffs accounts rather than trying to figure out changed passwords,or at least thats how its been done in the past on a site im on

I would assume that posts in the mod forum count towards the total posts a user has made, so based on the count of 1 for cars2007, they havent even introduced themselves in the mod forum (if it still exists, lol) so no doubt the mods are as clueless as we are to the identity.

what surprid me was how quick they did it, i think i was posting something or looking at something, then all of a sudden 3 hours worth of post went in a flash, then another 6 hours or so's worth in another flash
