Thats something i might consider, because i'm fine once the contacts are in, but i end up hurting myself trying to get the fuckers in and out. But i could cope once a month

Has anyone got Astigmatism? where the eyeball is a Rugby ball shape.

my left eye is -5.50
and the right -6.00

proper blind apparentley the reason i have Astigmatism is due to an Antibiotic/pill my mum was prescribed with when she was pregnant.

Oh i wear Acuvue Advance contacts 2 weekly ones (take out each day) Brilliant lenses much better than the Monthley ones i had for 5 years.

Sights better with glasses than contacts as i have a slight astigmatism in one eye

that is a pretty strong prescription
You think thats bad, my eyes are -10 and -11 diaopters , and I have a twin astigmatism, and am right eye dominant

Can't get comfortable with contacts, as the rugby-ball shape in the eye means that they don't sit properly ..

Still managed to get my private pilots licence, even though the CAA were not very happy at all, and I had to have a number of special examinations for them to issue a medical, and also got advised not to do any extreme aerobatics, as with the G loadings a detatched retina is a distinct possibility ... This also has stopped me doing my dream job of being an RAF/ Commercial Pilot ....

Laser surgery would only halve my prescription they recon, so not worth the £ or hassle..

Ah well

Phil my current navigator Dayle suffers from this.

Infact if you can see his website he has other difficulties to overcome too.

Username on here is Dayle

and the is only in jest

Dayle when reading maps or pacenotes often looks like he is just gazing out of the side window he is infact looking down forcing his eyes to do what we take for granted, its just on an un natural angle. Amazing

I used to have these, they were great, until I started working at my current employer, the air conditioning plays havoc with my eyes..... so had to revert to mi glasses for work...

yes - that is why my sight is quite bad. my prescription is only -2.5 on the worst eye, but the astigmatism makes it seem far worse.
