I had one come to mine about 2 years ago over council tax i hadn't paid from a previous address, i didnt realise i owed it as the letters were going to my old address. First thing i knew was a bailiff almost breaking my door through by absolutely hammering the knocker on the door.

I wanted to smash his fucking face in but of course he was having none of it, just saying calm down lol, he left without anything of course. I paid in the end, at £5 per week! I know the bailiff as well through doing doors (he used to too), cannot wait to see him around local again, cos i will.

Bastards all of the same, almost as bad as grasses.

I'm watching the prog on bbc1 now....they're actually saying they ENJOY seeeing peoples faces when they tell them how much they owe...and they basically make up how much they want to charge....absolute bunch of bastards. It honestly wouldnt bother me if they got shot doing their 'job'...and thats the only people i would say that about.

Been 2 years now and watching this program brings back all my hate, i detest them. Why choose to be a bailiff....what absolute fucking cocks they must be in the 1st place.

i used to work as a bailiff and yeah some are total bastards the lad i worked with was bent as they come used to put all sorts of charges on as the more they charge the more they make.

I know your all calling them twats and bastards etc but end of the day if you get the debt and either cant afford to pay or just wont you get what you deservre imo

My dad built an extension for someone and didnt get paid, tried for 2 years to get payment for it. In the end he got the baliffs round, they were going to take all the chairs and tables from his restaurant, and his old classic Merc.
He soon got his cash out then!

my sister + husband moved into a house who the previous tenants (renting) where seriously in dent. They were getting letters through the door constantly, they contacted every firm who sent the letters. Then one day the balifs came round, and was just about to smash the door down when some neighbours came running out and told them that a new couple where in there now.

So despite constant contact informing the companys the previous tennants had fled ballifs were still going to smash a door out.

Some of the things you see and hear about does seem a bit harsh, but at the end of the day its a job. They often have to 'act' like this as part of the job. If they went in all nice and polite after the 20th attempt, do you think they'd end up getting the money thats owed or just get laughed at?

Certain jobs require certain attitudes to achieve the results. A bailiffs job is one of those jobs in my opinion, just like a bouncers job. I assume you may have used a bit of an attitude to sort idiots out on a night out, being an ex-bouncer? Same thing really, changing your attitude at work to acheive the goal. I had to be like that quite often in my old job to get results, but as soon as i clocked out i was back to 'normal' again.

Many people put themselves in that position in the first place, so cant really complain. Ok there will be some cases that are genuine mistakes and unavoidable and have to get in debt to 'survive', but i think its fair to say that many people who are at bailiff stage have brought it on themselves by ignoring all contact and letting it get too far.

so i just look at try ya best to keep on top of things or if ya skint try not to get things on credit.

Sorry, but baliffs are only doing there job, i used to own a "small" share in a debt collection company (ironically the first share was taken as a debt owed to me )
And you shouldn't have the debt in the first place if you can't pay it, don't lend it! The baliffs dont know personal circumstances, but if there bosses tell them to get x amount of money from "y" then they have to get it, or they lose there job, end of!
Admittedly some can be absolute cunts, but thats the only ones publicised, hell theres cosworth tuners that are utter cunts, but not enough people use them to make a tv program about them!!!

there are ways and means of doing a job and if the baliffs actually spent 5 mionutes listening to the reason why you think you aren't actually the person who owes the money or there has been a paperwork error and can go and check hen there's not going to be a problem is there

everyone is different in front of teh camera's and i've had ballifs come round threatening to take stuff that they said they were owed, we told the, on the doorstep, that the person they were after had lived there about 5 years ago and had rented a room out atour place but since then he'd gone back to india and we had no contact with him and if they could find the car the money was owed on they were free to lift it but they wern't coming in
and they accepted that and fooked off
