i have a lot of files on my computer taking up alot of space and look like this in the 'windows' section of my hard drive

'$NtUninstallb887742$' what are they and why have i got over 22gig of them with differant numbers on the ends ?

can they be removed to give me my space back ?

Thay are the windows restore pal, think you can disable it and remove the files but i would just reccomend deleting them

They are also the uninstallers for all the Windows Updates your machine has downloaded and installed over the years. If you delete them, sometimes you won't be able to uninstall a hotfix if you need to.

click on control panel...then system...then system restore ..then settings

and then lower your disk space usage if needed

so i would say anything before 207 would be pretty useless now and wouldnt really ever need to be uninstalled anyway ?

Possibly, but these foldernames $NtUninstallb887742$ indicate KB numbers, which would imply they are uninstallers.
