Default broken long stud in block

my cossy was showing all the signs of a blow head gasket so off came the head to reveal at least 1 broken long stud. problem is half the thread is still in the block. is there any way the remaining thread can be got out of the block or is it time for a new block (this block was a new one & has only done 6000 miles)

any decent engineering places can get these out; should be no more than £25 - i took mine to a tool maker to have studs removed

basically you put the component, in this case the block, in a tank of parrafin, then it uses a metal elctrode ( we used brass or copper) to spark the the broken part away. it passes a current from the electrode to the stud erroding it as it moves down.
