just had a email,looks like this year top speed will be over 1 kilometer,and should bring the top speeds down to 160 to 180,will that help the ford team?

Rod would probably prefer it to stay at a mile i would guess.

Good to hear the results are going to be instant though if they do go ahead with dropping it to a KM

yes it will be less distance for the recovery trucks to trundle down the runway to get them.....

safety,have you seen the vids of door panels blowing out at 190+

The reasoning is that the 1km will bring the fastest cars back down to around the 200mph mark, and make most of the cars running in the 160 or so region.

I suspect thats easier to insure than well over 200mph


Plus its good for not giving the cars so much death in one go too of course.
