there a good thing mate but better in a fez than an escort because of management and fuling they are a much more torquey and drivable motor we do loads for customers mate and no complaints we just did a 2.1 with cos management for a fez

Heard some bad story's about the guy from Dover.

A mate had one of his engines zvh for n/a and it shagged within 3000 miles so did a little digging aparently doing the bottom end consists of taking out the crank bearings taking a look at them and putting them back not fitting new ones like you would expect.

So your left thinking have the rings and oil pump been re-newed??

So i would avoid that if i was you mate

Im not certain I would trust someone to build an engine who advertises with statements such as :

desinged to use a cvh head

compretion ratio

everythng is used with no modyfications

Pete this is a useful website for building your own -

http://www.quantums.info/zvh.htm

I built a very basic zvh using the info on this site. Andy who done the work on the block used it for reference and it all worked fine

ive heard bad stories about them aswell, just a clean up and quick look inside, nothing is uprated and standard weak pistons skimmed to lower compression so no wonder they last five minutes, my advice build your own its easy and ive done loads so any plates etc just give me a shout.

pete, just go full zetec route
not much more expensive and a hell of a lot more reliable when homebuilt
sooo much better mate
use calibra turbo pistons, a ported head, and maybe cams, decent manifolds (adapt rst exh) and cossie inlet
and you got 300bhp, you might not want power but the new owner might want the option to upgrade after you, and its always there if you do feel the need

i built a 1.8 zvh engine for a friend of mine and that was in a escort and that made 200 bhp easily at 14 psi

just use a standard bottom end but give it a freshen up oil pump, rings, bearings and it will last you for ages my mate uses his everyday and has never missing a beat since if you want one ding i could work out a price to do it if you want

I know Stu does chips for a RS turbo, and does a beiges,-31 and chip kit for £450,but does the chip comprimise ZVH?? Or is there no differance??

but warley said hes not looking for silly power ??

imo why dont you get yaself down the locaql breakers , get a 1,8 mondy lump refresh the motor ( rings barings pumps ect , ) the mod work is a peice of piss mate , and then just got the t3 chip and coller like you said in the resto post ,

its all well saying got for 300 but as u prob know bud then you have to factor more things in and then it starts adding up ,

its a sweet car , keep it useable and simple ,

plus if you stay the zvh route you can keep the standard looks of the car ,

Pete, if your not after power mate, a full zetec with a spacer plate running OFAB/OFAC and up to a bar boost will give a very useable 230bhp. Ahmed does chips for this setup I beleive.

RS1800 inlet, RST exhaust manifold and a T3 and you're sorted.

Would go really nice, but without being powerful enough to cause gearbox/clutch issues. Up to you mate, end of the day, it's your motor.

PS, new sig needed matey

No they dont, a customer of mine asked him, (as i said i couldn't match that price)
they replyed, that they strip and build back up using old parts, unless something is broken, or the customer pays for new items.

Thats not a rebuild.

Fair enough Pete. In that case, I'd stick with the CVH. It revs better and the std bottom end will handle 200bhp all day long.

Any more than 170bhp in a fez is wasted anyways mate.

sorry pete, didnt mean to offend you.
i know a couple of people who have gone down the zvh route, and they regretted it, thats all i was going on, and having skope for more power in the future if you/the person who has the car after you does feel the need.
also why not get another rst bottom end? surely this would be ten times easier, just get a proper gasket!
but its your car so do what you fancy!

Thanks, James
