They can't take a deposit on something that doesn't exist, has no release date, will be limited production if it is built, will be on allocation and no dealer will know how many if any at all they are going to get.

Of course that doesn't stop anyone taking your money and then telling you later that they can't fulfill the order.

maybe its just me,but i just can't see Ford as it is today making a 4wd version Focus.....i hope i'm wrong though!

Just you mate....we've all seen pictures of the 4wd mule

Also the focus floorpan is utilised by a volvo already in a awd format so it wouldnt really be that hard to put a pokey engine in and a ford badge on it

They have the technology to make the RS a 4wd. Cant see them making it 2wd because it'll just be the same as an ST. Im guessing they will use a volvo engine and running gear like in the C3O, S40 and V50.

I dunno he's not the only one that is thinking this way, there have been the parts in the fords various parts bins to have made a 4wd focus since the mk1. While there have been various 4wd mules of the c1 focus for ages from the looks of it any plans for a 4wd focus got sheveled a long time ago.

The new rs focus will be nothing more than a last year limited edition special for the current face lifted focus IMO as the all new c2 mk3 focus would be due around the end of 2009 early 2010.

It would be great if the all new rs was 4wd but the way ford have done things of late I can't see that happening in a focus till the c2 mk3

Alot of people in here think that enthusiasts call the shots in the RS department,its BEEN the number crunchers that have for YEARS!!

You only have to read Stuart Turners memoirs too realise the hassle he had in getting the Big wigs to agree in four wheel driving the mk5 escort...and that was when YOU HAD to make these cars for homologation reasons!
Ford don't need to make these cars when they sell millions of everyday cars and the last RS lost them money....not a good thing when you are trying to sell the next RS to big wigs in Ford HQ

As for these mules etc,Ford have made sooo many mules over the years that have never seen the light of day...so even if there is a 4WD version on some test track,that doesn't mean it will ever see production!

Yes they have Volvo AWD but if i'm mistaken thats not the best drivetrain to have...i mean its not in an Evo's league...which is where i would want a PROPER focus RS to be competing in...

Hey,time will tell and i hope the Focus RS is the car i and most other people have been waiting for..if it is i will get one thats for sure...
