Default lashed a Ducati yesterday............

Yesterday our local group (Durham RSOC) went to well lane turbo centre to do a rolling road shoot out for Fast Ford mag.

I came away quite happy with a run of 363BHP @ 24psi boost, the guy wouldn't let me run again with my boost turned up to 28psi, I wanted to make 400BHP but he said "I'm not doing any double runs on any car".............(check out december issue)

..........anyway, on the way home, was driving quite steady away when a bike come up behind me with all lights blazing, he steamed passed me when i was doing about 90 mph, he slowed down in front and i seen these two exhaust pipes sticking out from beneath his seat then he set it away again to tease me, i gave chase and caught him up at about 140 then basically pushed him out of the way at 150 as he looked at my other half sitting next to me, he shook his fookin head!! HE STARTED IT , LOL........

then about 10 mins later a TVR Tuscan came up behind me so i pulls over into the slow lane on th A1, he burbles passed me at about 80-90 and sort of blips his throttle to go as we were side by side, so i braked slightly, pulled out behind him and floored it behind him and he just pulled over.....................fookin pussy!!!

was a good day from dawn till dusk

I've got a cossie and a bike and the cossie sucks ASS compared to the acceleration of my bike in a straight line, as for the corners it take 10 times more skill to get around a bend fast on a bike than in a reasonably safe TAXI. The cossie is just some wet weather gear until the sun comes out again

What Ducati? Most are finished or don't even make 140mph Even a 996 will hit 160ish mph, but dramatically tail off by 140

how and why do people think that a bike can outrun a fast car at 140 mph, fair enough upto 100-120ish the bikes acceleration is awesome, but when rolling at that sort of speed, a powerful car is just as fast IMO. When i had my 2wd saph, it was a stage 3 on greens and i kept up with a fireblade right up to 160 and he was giving it some real stick too-----this ducati rider wasn't out for his sunday ride either, he was giving it some real throttle like

sorry but a stage 3 sapph kept with a blade

In all fairness to the biker they hate cars getting close up the rear because of accidents and he probably let off , bikes dont usually race nutters in cars

A bike starts hitting a air wall at 140 - 150 ish depending on aero of the Bike.

A car which can do over 150 mph should catch a bike at that speed and take it..

Scott - Reckon its defo a case of bottle

A decent bike is almost 400BHP@ wheel INCLUDING RIDER!!!!

By comparison, a stage 1 saph 4x4 (or escort) will struggle to do 220@wheels without driver.

Bikes are fookin weapons, and riders are quite often pussies

Having a tear up with a bike in a quick car is always amusing , bikers are fucking terrible loosers, get all stressed and pretend that they wern't really trying anyway end of the day, bikes are fucking fast, I had my licence 7 yrs now, but in anything other that perfect conditions, ie dry warm and smooth roads a good driver in a fast car will whip most good bikers, although chasing a well ridden bike is very hard work- And bear in mind most 600cc bikes are easier to ride faster than 1000's etc

My last post should have read 400BHP / Tonne @ wheel for the bike, and about 180 @ wheels for a 4x4

i have matt, yes, car desperately needs a setup too, has a spike at 4500rpm and is a little hesitant and stutters a bit when you back of the loud pedal. Sounded very strong though, was loads left in her, wanted to whap the boost up to full and get 400!!!

I find it easier to get a bike to 170 than a car , because it happens so much quicker your arse doesnt have time to twitch , and when it finally realizes whats happend youve already backed off !

once you get past 150/160 on a bike the broken line in the road becomes a single white line and you cant really feel that much difference all the way up to 185/190as its all buffeting from the wind
i have a video on my camcorder of my TL doin over 180 (150 on the back wheel) if i could find a way of transferring 8mm onto the pc i would post it up so you can count or time how long it takes a bike to reach 160mph and then tell me if an escos with 400 brake could keep up . seeing as i owned a 400 brake shaff i think i would have to say NOT A HOPE IN HELL M8

ROFLMAO & PMSL
you would NEVER beat a 996 if the guy opens the throttle full, mate. Trust me, i own 2 ducatis, and a cossie, and i seriously know what i say. Don't dream
My full power 996 does 140 bhp, hits over 170 mph without any prob, and I am a track rider since 15, so trust me, you wouldn't catch me at all, in straight lines, nor in turns, and i think the guy was asleep on his bike

For the one that says Ducatis are wank, please explain me how come thy are 10 times world champion in Superbike, and did the best starting season in MotoGP for a new bike EVER, last year.

Also, a 996 has 2 times more torque than your 750 F4 and at 3000 RPMs lower, better try one before telling
It also has 20 BHP more...

the prob is that UK is not a bike country, because of weather i imagine, so you are imagining lots of things... but ask an Italian, a French, a Spanish, or anyone that really drives bikes all year long, and know them, and they would die laughing reading this !!!

it would take over 1000 bhp to have a little hope in catching a bike (and i mean a 600, not a 1000, would be even worse ) , especially if it's in straight line

quickly summing up : Ducati 996 -> 140 bhp (at WHEEL), 190 kilograms
Cossie -> 400 bhp (not at wheels ), 1390 kilograms.

How come you HOPE catching it ?

Don't get me wrong, i love my stage 3 Escort Cosworth, fookin LOVE it, but this does not allow to have such irrealistic dreams

lol , as you like. You will be the first one on earth saying that a 750cc 4 cylinder has more power and character than a 1000cc twin... as you like

YOUR very own 916 could be wank, this does not mean they all are. Maybe your clutch was dead, as they kill them quickly, or ANY other prob. But better try a new condition one, and you will change mind IMHO. Oh and btw, I know very well the 750 F4 for having my father owning one a while ago, so i really could compare.

BTW, it's torque that does all. If your 140 BHPS are at 16000 RPMs, i prefer my 140 ones at 8000 mate, and the road would also show it

yeah, but how many bikes in UK all year long compared to southern countries ?

Having a track like the isle of man does not mean it's a bike country mate

no offense tho, bikes are just VERY few compared to the rest of sunny countries in europe, and that's quite to be expected, no ?

Who leads the worldwide bike market, except Japan ? Italy -> for riders, and for brands. That's pretty logical, they have a bike culture as they CAN use them all year long.

so what does it matter that there are more bikes in sunny countrys do they get slower when they are inported to the uk, and as for needing 1000+ bhp to beat bikes i think that rubbish to be honest. I know bikers who admit to struggling against cossies on quick bikes my mates 210bhp series 2 kept up with a cbr6 from about 90 to flat out of the clock

Alps Pacino, if you want to believe this, it's up to you.
You seem to forget that there is another thing that's important, more than bhp... it's the weight/power ratio, and read what i wrote above

I just own both, and i can speak about what i know Anyway, i don't want to force anyone to believe me, it's just a discussion, and trust me, some day you could really change your opinion

Deano, it's the point of twins compared to 4 cylinders -> less power at cc, but MUCH more torque, and power is available really lower in RPMs, which is good on a bike as acceleration in corners exit is the most important, well if you do track, at least.
