rad has been bled, now which side is it that needs adjusting as they both have caps on.. and i presume turning it in closes and and turning out (anti clockwise) opens?

SNoopy this is often the case with rads that are added on.
I bet its been ran in tiny plastic pipe work too.
Best thing to do is make sure that the rad is fully open at both sides and bled up.
Go round the other rads and find what ones you think are the hottest and turn the valve clockwise to cut some of the water flow to these rads.
Do the rads have Thermosats on them? if so turn the valves on the opposite side from the stats.

Make sure your circulating pump in on speed 3. Switch on heating and Turn off all the other rads in the house, If you can shut down the gate valve on the cylinder coil too. Just count the amount of turns it takes to close and open it up the same later on. You prob have air trapped in the pipe work, Leave it run like this for half an hour should do the trick.
