Anyone know anything about these guys? I’m thinking about finally getting around to building a 3 door here in the US.

You can't have a "real" 3dr uhm, Legally in the US lol. If you have a Merkur Shell you can cut out the side and make it look like a 3dr which a couple of people have done. They seem to have everything needed for you build but a word of warning, they are really back logged on their bumpers, bodykits, rear spoilers so getting those items will require some wait time (some people have been waiting 8months +) They have all their new building permits so they're now starting to do the bodykits. They are also on my forum and do deals exclusively with our group.

I jus opened that link & thought Cossie's in America

But then I see the Escort at the top of the screen ! Isn't that Michelle Wellands old Escy ? ? ? (red one wit beige trim & white TD rims)

Spoilt the whole site for me

Erik, why can't you legally have a Cosworth in the us out of interest ? ? ?

Cheers

I am sure it is to do with the age of the car and the emmisons.
If you can get an early car(of any make) then emmissions are a lot slacker.

Thanks Erik. My plan was to convert a Merkur into a 3 door replica as the import laws here are so tight. What’s there quality of work like as they are really not to far from me and I was thinking of getting them to do all the work form me.

I was looking into buying an Escos from them. They look pretty reputable. They're a lot closer than anything on the otherside of the pond. I'm looking to import a home grown escos from europe when I find one suitable for importing.

Post pics when you start the merk to 3 door conversion.

To buy a car from them does seem to be very expensive especially as I am from the UK and know how much cossise sell for there. You will defiantly get a better deal importing your own car from Europe. If the import laws here in the US were not so tight I would be importing an escort cossie as soon as possible.

As for me building a 3 door I’m looking to start the project once the snowboarding season has ended and then start the hunt for a Merkur.

The cars aren't legal because of emissions, and safety standards.
All the cars in the US have reflectors in the front (headlights/wings) and rear sides. That's just the tip. Our cars are braced better for crash protection which in turn makes the body stiffer than the 3drs and your XR's. Another thing is in the UK the cars are RHD so the lens point a different way but that's can be fixed lol.

The prices they sell their stuff for seems to be very price but they claim that everyone they build is to a brand new spec.
Escorts are legal in the US (ST models). I don't anything about their build quality cause I've yet to see any of their work up close. Hopefully we'll see them next year at our HUGE 3 day car show with one of their cars.

Daz (the main man) also claims to be building a 700bhp cossie.

You can import an Escos but it'll cost you about $10k-$11k (Ł5k-Ł6k) to federalize it.
So if you already own a ST model you can bring it in.
