Default buying a 1640cc cvh,possibly vulcan,knowlege(sp)needed

buying to put in my xr2 its also had head work,but what i want to know is whats been done to make it a 1640 instead of 1600,i know nowt about engines ,lad im buying from is also fitting it so it must be ok,this is the first time ive bought or done anything as serious as this,small fries to you guys but id appreitiate some feedback, ,cheers tony

sounds like its been bored out! i would ask for proof before you go on just word as iirc the only way to check is by measuring the bores!

1500k?? surely it must have had a rebuild since then!!! thats like 1,500,000 miles!!!!!

its probably had first over-sized pistons within its re-build, so each piston is .5 oversze or .29 i cant remember, but that will give you an extra 10cc per cylinder... giving you 1640cc instead of 1600...
vulcan tend to build some nice engines, so if its a goos price then go for it, i would...
it would take you a couple of hours to swap engines if your on the ball, if not expect it to take you 2 days

im getting it for a very very good price,and hes fitting it so must be confident,ive jus bought another xr2 with a burton stage2 head,kent cam,vernier,etc,so might chuck it on the 1640 for good measure,and thanks for replys,1.5k since build,for what im paying ill take the risk i think,cheers tony
