Default 2wd saff head gasket gone!!!!!

,as above did track day sunday and my head gasket let go at 24 lb boost the temp gauge never went above half but steam coming out of cap ...hoses hard etc ...engine was rebuilt 6 k ago ..now running t38 greys etc ... should i put yb611 group a gasket with ford bolts on next ???? not sure what it had on in first place ....will this gasket hold 28 or so lb boost every one keeps telling me diffrent things... helpfull input welcome ....cheers jeff

I had the gasket in question on my 3dr with 33psi and all was, still is good on the car i believe, my block was wire rung though..

Make sure you've got nice surfaces when you replace it..

just ordered yb611 group a off matt lewis and ford head bolts... going to get head checked , skimmed etc .. and keep my fingers crossed

Defo wants a skim, clean block with old knackered emery paper around a steel bar.
Best to use ARP stud and nut kit, will take this boost all day long no problems.
It will work correctly IF you rest the gasket as you fit it otherwise it may not.

make sure they are the correct headbolts with the correct code on them,there are later ones that are not as good will find da code nd post it for you

my group a gasket on a wire rung block has never failed even at 2.5 bar.

ok 2wd headbolts the ones you want to use should have KXA1000 on them the ones you dont want have 10.9 thiis is what i have been told!

i think mine poss gone due to previous owner not skimming head after rebuild he said it was pressure tested and didnt need skim but i am not sure ..just hope this sorts it... cheers for input

mines weeping down the block as well fella but i cant be bothered with her anymore its too expensive to do cant spend anymore pennies on her

i know how you feel mate getting it done then may sell her on ..just want it done right incase i sell it my focus rs isnt as quick but handles better and breaks far less ... could be the beginning of the end for the saff do love it though

i think its 3 door time for me had her for 7 yeras now how much was your gaskets all together???just make sure they got the correct numbers as posted further up chap

ordered yb611 gasket ford headbolts oil filter and cometic inlet gasket £90 matt lewis job so hope head bolts are correct

no chap i can only use coopers head gasket due to the block being machained to except the fire rings on the headgasket

they are they will never fail with regards to the compression side but they gasket is only fibres like grp A so are prone been on the 6 years only done around 5k but i did fit the last one from burtons which is not a gen one running 30psi spike 27 mid range 23 at 7 k

mine lasted about 6k only running 25lb boost at most ..i think it was a group a good luck with it mate ...have good christmas... cheers jeff
