new chariot - mk3 mondeo tddi. any experts among us?
just bought a mondeo on a Y plate, 2.0 tddi, 160k, think its been a taxi for some of all of its life but seems to have been looked after. interior is mint, drives lovely, no obvious faults other than a slight missfire at 2k under light acceleration, not there when booting it.
it also doesnt seem as quick as it should, goes very well at speed, 70-100 is quicker than i expected by low speeds it seems sluggish. any ideas what either of the problems could be? is there any common faults etc?
also, been told the cam/cams (is it single or twin cam?! ) can fail at high millage, is this true? what else can go? basiclly just want to know if theres anything i should expect to fail, keep and eye on or even pre-emptively change if its likely to go tits up.
also, do the mk3s have the same issues with eating lower suspension arms as the older fiestas, escorts and mondeos? or anything else for that matter? basiclly is there anything i should look out for?
cheers folks!

common faults are rear subframe bushes evey 50k or so, cam chains don't seem to go like transits do,nor fuel pumps. injectors at about 100k on tdci's so that doesn't effect yours.

rear subframe bushes are pretty easy to do.can do them with the subframe on or off the car.takes about 45 minutes with the right tools on a ramp or about 75mins if you take the subframe off. the bushes are loctited in though and you are supposed to leave them 12 hours before you move the car.
we usually do them last job at night and then just drive it out in the morning.
i think tddi's were about 100hp ish? tdci's are 115 and 130hp in 2.0 litres and 155hp in 2.2's
other thing to look for is split boost pipes and clogged up egr valves(the big metal bit between the inlet manifold and the boost pipe)

yeah someones told me about the EGR valve, i have that off and clean it all up when i get chance. he recons that could be the cause of the flat spot i mentioned above.
