Some1 has registerd my dads van as scrap. (Solved)
Well some1 told the dvla in september that my dads van had been scrapped (they will not tell us who it was or if it was done by phone or in writing).
My dad got pulled over in november and was asked why he was driving the van as it had been registerd as scrapped, He was shocked to hear this and got al the docs out to show the police
It had only had its mot redone in aug and he had the full logbook to show them also mot, insurance , the police contacted the dvla and now my dad is able to drive the van but its down on the computer as subject to inspection and he has been to have it inspected twice now and both times he has been sent away, the last time they sent him away was because he didnt have the seat and step plastics out so they could see some numbers?
how can he drive 20 miles with no drivers seat installed or is he ment to take the seats ect out at the place of inspection?
he is an old man and cant stand out in this cold taking his van to bits.
I for 1 want to know who scrapped the van in the first place and how they did it as i have always had to send a logbook off to scrap a car/van?
Surley this needs to be looked into cos if its that easy to register another persons moter as scrap without sending the logbook off then i can see this going on alot in the future to mp's cars, the head of the dvla's car ECT, ECT.
like when the congestion charge was imposed and loads of ppl got number plates made up to match an mp's car and he got sent loads of fines. LOL

shower of shite=dvla
the dvla are only bothered with sending out fines and thinking up new ways to get ££ out of us. someone can always apply for your vehicle, and if they get no reply from the registered owner they send out the new logbook.you could be on holiday in hospital or anything, but they don't care!! want to keep their beedy eye on us but leave the door open for any thief to take the logbook of your vehicle just another government money making machine who cares nothing about security as long as they keep the ££ flowing in.

Could someone not have copied the van's reg number, done a job with another vehicle or burnt it out or something, then police recover the vehicle and scrap it?
Something along those lines?

fucking joke. i would just tell them you have the logbook, an mot, insurance and road tax. they have made a mistake on their computers as you have never scrapped the van, or implied that you have.
for that reason you are not prepared to undergo any sort of test or take the van to any location at your cost. if they want it tested, then then can send someone out at a time convenient to you, otherwise you will be seeking legal advice as this is their error and NOT yours.
