Default Bloody do-gooding EU crap........

Went to B&Q yesterday to buy some solder for electronic assembly as I had run out.

Now I always use 60/40 tin/lead flux-cored - has perfect run into all joints etc etc.

Now B&Q only stock lead-free, thought I'd give it a try, what a load of shit. Whoever decided to take the lead out of solder for electronics wants shagging with a soldering iron. The solder itself feels like plastic tube, melts into blobs and doesn't have the same fluid run as the leaded stuff - basically, its fucking useless for anything except chewing on

So today I went round all the local electronics specialists and the like and none of them stock lead/tin solder anymore due to the EU regulations

Ebay it is then - £5.50 for 500 gram reel of solder which is 60/40 and flux cored. Lets hope it arrives asap as I needed it yesterday and have a customers parts waiting due to fucking EU regulations

we had to stop plating elctrical parts in tin/lead 4 years ago,we now have to plate all our brass and copper in 100%tin so it took a while for it to filter through to the solder lol, dont you just love the EU

Try pure silver, that is what I now use for electronic bits.

Lead Free solder is about as much use as petrol in a diesel car - it isn't happening
