SO who cares if its budget... ?? does it do te job you need it to.. ok it mite not look as nice or appear to be as good as the 'branded' stuff but come one chaps..WE all need to do the budget thing sometimes..dont we??

so as far as i can see if it works and it has a warranty.. like 12mths for fualty goods then why not bloody well use it.. ???

i would certainly spend a third of the price on a turbo for a project build definately just for the fact that if i fuck it up then i can easly replace it... but you lot would sooner spend 1000's on one..??? i dont get it,?? so you build an engine and put your expensive turbo on it... then somthing goes wrong and you fuck your new 1500 quid jobbie?? oppss.. i know which one i would sooner bugger up...

false economy you might say.. well yes in the bloody long run.. and i mean very long run.. i would certainly exchange false economy with the small percentage chance i might spoon a mega expensive bit of kit....

i think more of the crap stuff should be used so that when you all twat your cars into a central resevation (like i did in my M3 ) you dont cry so much about a bloody 400quid cooler or a 250quid rad... or a 1000 quid turbo...!!!

oh and dont get me wrong i do see the point of serious quality stuff, i have used alot of it and know mostly what is good and what isnt.. but in the race or track world... yes bloody spend the money you need it to last and the possibilty of a 1 degree colder intercooler may well help you win.. ...but for a every day motor with the occasional track effort.... come on....

now lets here your side...!! cheers...

But, in the tuning world the saying 'you get what you pay for' is normally true.

Imagine a cossie engine built up to 500bhp but you didnt spend the extra money on arp rod bolts?

For the £80 it would cost for the bolts it would be well worth it instead of forking out for whole new engine build!

i think you have missed my point there matey, i am well aware of the important extreme stress components that you cant skimp on whatsoever.. i am talking of rads, intercoolers, turbos, manifolds, hoses, and i know a turbo is a 'high stress' unit but... i have had a XSGT42 for over a year doing 29psi.. and it has not missed a beat at all... and it cost me 300 quid...

I've got this at the moment with regards to intercoolers for my car. 2 well knows brands are selling them for cicra £900. On Ebay there is one being sold for under £300 which has been tested by the American VW boys and they've found them to be just as good.

Some will say you have been lucky with an xs power turbo running that boost for that amount of time.

I know what you mean now, about rads and coolers etc...

I think Christian @ APT did tests on a Evo withn cheap rad and cooler fitted and they were soo rubbish they went back to standard items.

Also, i would always use samco, sfs etc as some silicone hoses are cheaply made and have been known to have splitting issues etc...

I say ' If its an important part of the engine/car that could have effect on another part (pistons connected to con rods connected to crank) Then you should spend the money to the proper quality items'

we have used clevitte pistons and liners in a cat d8k clevitte is £100 a pot and cat finnings is £400 a pot and the only failer weve had is a cat piston busting through the gudgeon pin we had a seizure from overheating on a 22a and it took a 30 ton jack to get the piston out but it didnt break but aftermarket glowplugs for £5 last 6 months if your lucky and melt and blow the centre out whereas cat £35 last years.

some things are just a rip off and others are cheap because there crap just needs someone to be daring and try and test these things.

i will vouch for xs power turbos ive used one t35 and sold quit a few and not had 1 complaint yet.
