Im about to get my car back with its newly built engine and i want peoples advice on the best way to run it in........
The car was running greens, MSD chip, 3bar etc etc.
I was going to leave it as is, but knock the boost down, do 300 miles running it to about 3000RPM, then change the oil to mineral again, run another 300 miles going to about 3500/4000RPM, then change the oil to semi synth, do another 300 miles with slightly more revs, then change the oil to Fully synth and do another 400 miles with more revs, then change oil again to fully synth and then book it back in to MSD for full set up and some fun!!!
Just wondered what other people think??? or recommend??

use mineral oil for 50miles tops.
when you start this engine for the first time
you want to get it out and under load asap,
i.e don't get it started and let it idle on your
drive for 10mins while you look for leaks,
get it started quickly check for leaks/wrong noises
then get it out on the road, you should not go above 4k
but you must open throttle to between 70 - 90% and load the engine
up a hill for instance, but do not let it labour i.e to higher gear/ low revs.
in the first mile you should be loading the engine and unloading quickly
by snapping the throttle shut,
this will bed the rings in, and the rest will take care of its self
change oil to the oil you will run as normal.
if its a turbo car do not jam open the wastegate,
you want boost 6 - 9psi

Personally my advice would be to run mineral oil at a slightly thinner grade than normal for the first 1000 miles. Rev the car to 5000rpm and use about 60-70% of your intended boost.
Most important thing is to load the engine - don't just feather the throttle, work it hard!
If you work the engine hard - you increase the wear on the rings which beds them into the bore better.
Run mineral oil at your normal grade from 1000-2000 miles and then go to fully synthetic at normal grade from that point on and up the boost

in this day and age with the amount of different/mininum amounts allowances for tolerance in components etc after the 1st 500 miles on a base cheapo mineral oil for bedding in rings and shells etc! you should be able to drive with full pelt after that (as long as it's all set up correctly)
this is a shorten version but you get the jest!

By brother used to work at an engine reconditioners in Australia, if an old granny came back complaining of oil use on a V8 they used to take off the air filter, rev it up and drop an hand full of AJAX down the carb
After this they changed the oil and the customer went away with de-glazed bores, strange thing is they had no come backs.
