Is this cheap to run?

The clio sounds good but whats the maintance like on them. Ive heard renault parts are confusing and expensive.

Also how hard are they to work on?

Clio 172/182 has to be a shout.

Probably get a decent spec older Impreza for 5k, not sure about maintainence costs though.

What about a Golf TDi or something - admittedly not stormingly quick - but would surely come under the cheap to run heading

The Golf does appeal but I dont think there any fun to drive.

The Clio is looking better, Im having a look on the trader now and have seen a few just dont understand the differences between the models.

There is the cup, cup cc

Does anyone know?

The clio's pretty good to run IMO

I've had mine a little over 2 years now (and done 28k), and its cost fuck all to run.

Its had a yearly service, each costing under Ł250 at a renault main dealers, and an oil change at a local garage inbetween these at a local garage costing like 30quid, the MOT's have been no problems, its done about 20k on a pair of front tyres, new front discs and pads and some rear pads.

Cant really moan at that

Just watch out if its due a cambelt change, as as im finding out, its about 500quid

Other then that, i have no moans at all, and any questions just shout.

Regards

Peter

Fiesta RST, i know its not the most reliable car in the world. But easy to work on, cheap parts, ok to insure and quite quick. Just get a clean one

Im in exactly the same position as you, Need a 5k Hack to get to and from work.

Top of my List is the Clio 172 cup but i might push a few k extra and look at the Fiesta ST

Don't know about how economical or cheap to run it will be but Golf VR6? Should be able to get a nice one for that money.

Also you could get a fairly standard mk4 golf 1.8T i think for 5k
