Virus help!
Visiting a few sites the other evening and I've managed to pick up a virus
My AVG and Norton both pick it up and get rid, but then about half hour later I get the message saying its back
I've just turned my system restore off and doing a virus check now to see if that will get rid permanently.
Its a Trojan Horse Dropper...
Anyone got a clue how to get rid of it?

When we had a problem like this, we looked up the virus on the net and found out how to stop it auto running. We then switched it off in the task manager. Then we had to go into the system volume information to delete the file which Norton AV detected which automatically restores the virus every time you reboot the system.....

As suggested..use the stinger..it's a wicked freeware removal tool.
As for prevention tho.. as usual.. make sure you've always run "windows update" and installed all latest critical patches. (SP2 for Win XP isn't too bad if you turn of DEP!). Also.. something like Ad-Aware (Se Pro version) is handy as the "Ad-Watch" side of things helps prevent trojans from being installed by restricting the changing of the registry / popups / activex components etc..
or just don't visit any dodgy sites
