Hello People,
As you will be aware, i have instigated some new changes around here and i hope you will find that the new rules will make the place better for us all.
In the meantime, Petrucci has been working hard behind the scenes on the speed issues we have and our planned upgrade to some new forum software that is better equipped to handle our database size and expected bandwidth, now, initially we were going to opt for the famous VBulletin, but during our testing we discovered that the new PHPBB OLYMPUS RC7 version of our existing forum software that has been in development for the past FIVE years has finally made it to the release candidate stage meaning that it is now almost fully stable, so we are of course happy to spend some time testing it to asses its suitability to us as an upgrade for PassionFord.
Petrucci has installed a backup database and we now want people to go and play about on it. It has some great new features and should handle and distribute load far better than this version ever did; in fact, on paper, it’s a very strong challenger to VBulletin.
Try it and see what you think. Explore your user control panel. I am sure you will like the new features, such as:
Group PM's
Moderator report button available for each post.
Friend / Foe system
Each User selects whether he has Word Censors
User selects whether his forum shows siggys/pictures/smiley’s/avatars
The ability to attach files to your posts for download. Such as word docs.
Beaten to post review page.
PM and Post Drafts feature allows you to save a draft.
Topic Bookmark feature.
New Poll Features.
Excellent search engine spider protection.
The above features are all from the top of my head... there are MUCH more!
Please note the following first.
This is NOT the new PF.
It’s an OLD database so your siggys etc may not be there.
YOU may not even be able to log in at all using existing details.
If you cannot log in, re-register with new any name you like, and any e-mail address.
Do NOT report that you don’t like the layout. This can be changed.
JUST TEST & REPORT ON ITS FEATURES. WE WANT IT LOADED UP AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. THANKS.

Also be aware that Petrucci and I are working on it all the time so anything we do will potentially slow it down and maybe crash it, as well as cause issues with this PF version too, so dont report on any slow speed issues just yet, but it needs testing so let’s test its features.
P.S: DO NOT write anything important on this forum, as all topics WILL be lost when we change the database over.

Don't know if it makes a difference but when viewing a topic and then clicking the "back" button on my browser it comes up with the page has expired?

A lot of the smileys seem bloody huge 
I do like the look of it though Stu
just on the replys and pms bit half the page on one side seems to have loads and loads of smileys that if removed would make the page one screen? instead of scrolling down?

Agreed. Wish more people would load it up, but hey, why i actually expect any help instead of complaints i really dont know.

Shame more people arent looking at it as the font?? used is much more easier on the eyes and i never realised this PF looked so poor...
A little wierd to navigate around at first but then 4 years on here any change seems strange
