cossies do u ever think!!!!!
ok now this may be bacause i own one but lets be honest here, all in all the are a great,no a legend of a car no other car can cause so much pain
and joy
lets think the 3 doors are 21/20 years old 2wd sapps are 20-18 years old all the rest aint proper cars as they r 4x4
but on a serious note has there been and will there ever a main stream car that will beat the legend of the cosworth?ok u have your scoobys and evos which are great cars(prefer evos to the scoobys myself!)but will they be as popular and wanted in 20years time like cossies are???whats your thoughts???????????

i think the cossy legend and popularity has got a long while to go yet.
in 20 years the evo's and scoobys wont need so much welding underneath as the fords did when they were 5-10 year old though lol

The Cossie's and RS's seem to be able to keep up with modern times i think.
Yes its a costly business, but so is desiging a a new model of a car.
Its 20 years on and when you say you have a cossie people either love you, or suddenly take a dislike to you i find...lol.
Especially when they have spent 20k on a what they think is a fast car.
When i say the Escos is 370 BHP, 4 Wheel Drive, and Highly modified.
You can see the look on their face, tis a picture

i dont think scoobys/evos will ever come close to the cosworth legend. there way to massly produced. u see them all the time. there too common to be desiarable in a few years

something about "cosworth" from the three door touringcars being untouchable to it being the bankrobbers fave to the fact that every young driver(when i was young anyway)saying of there cars"i kept with a cossie to a ton".
its a name not to be forgotten like rs,,ford have made a big mistake not making an effort to keep up with the likes of evo fq's in my opinion.no new ford out there i would want at the moment

OK here's what it is - all those other manfacturers didn't stop making good performance cars 15 years ago. Ford did, so people who are into Cossies have no means of moving forward, hence the big scene for these old cars.
If Ford were making cars like that now, the Saph Cossie would be the cheap entry level to Cossie ownership and would be looked down upon by those with the newer models. That's just how it is. Yes Cosworth is special, but the lack of new cars just shows the old ones in a different light.

plus in a strange way i think that fact that they were stolen alot to use as get away cars (sapphires mostly!)adds to the cosworth status!
i think mr dogsmoke has a very valid point there, and i agree, the cars of today from ford will not match the 4 wheel drive power cars of the japs and there reliability is also a question to the jap cars, but i personnally believe it is the fact that they were the cream of the crop in there day and only made in limited numbers that keeps thenm desirable. also clubs like this that really helps keep them alive, no meets no forums people would not be arsed i dont think
the reason they are desirable and are a legend is because ford have stoped making the rs and cosworthc cars..ina way its a good thing as we have the legends but then again its bad as ford are loosing their performance edge.
I could sum it up by saying I can't describe the feeling when I get in my stage 3 Cossie , put my foot down and it pulls so strong all the way to the limit with nothing else to touch it!
Sheer delight!

Ford need to get there finger out and start making some more rs's cause ford are a bit bland now. I love my fords and always will but. Ford come on for fook sakes. I love my cossie and i think another 20 odd years people will still be collecting them. I dont personally this that it will be the same for the impreza and evos. You go to a ford show and there is alsorts from the mk1 mk2 escorts to the newer fords like the mondeo. You go to an subaru show and its line after line of impreza's. Ford have made so many good cars over the years and they have competed in most motorsports to.
I asked myself the same question a few months back, don't seem to see many "older" evos and scoobies on the road, maybe because the early ones had to be imported
Seems most evos on the road are 8 or 9's and scoobies are 2/3/4 yrs old at the most (well, in my neck of the woods anyway).
In some respect, Ford not releasing a new model every other year probably has done the RS scene a lot of good
, think about all those people who bought an evo/scoob only to find a newer (better ?) model appear two years later, makes you want to upgrade, etc... which makes the other cars loose value and interest.
My tuppence.
