Default Need advice re Recirculating valves......

Right then

I have just too off the standard recirculating valve off my Octavia and for some reason the lad who had it before me had blocked it off...

He had sealed up all 3 ends of the valve.........................

What would this of done.....as basically no air whatsoever was getting through it.

It was as if the 3 pipes were blanked off.

I have fitted a new valve in its place but i want to know what he thought he was gaining from sealing it up

May have thought it would make it chatter.

The VAG 1.8T motors need a recirc valve in place as remving it upsets the MAF sensor as it's not capable of working out which direction air is passed across it.

Atmospheric valves are supposed to be problematic as well but as I've no intention of fitting one to mine I didn't bother reading further

Wouldn't have thought so but the N75 valves can be problematic.

Mine was fine and then one morning made a pop noise and was hitting nearly 2bar Boost was all over the place. Ł60 at the Audi dealer later and hal anhour on the drive and we're back to peaking 0.8 and holding 0.6bar
