Default Any Diabetics on here?

Reason i'm asking, i had a blood test the other day, they've told me to cut down on my sugar intake because i'm border line Diabetic

My father was a Diabetic i guess it could be passed down from him..

Anyway, what i want to know is..

Are those sticks you can buy to test your glucose on accurate??

It's just that considering i'm supposedly diabetic, my readings are always negative..

PS, NO i'm not over weight either...

Rich

Excuse my ignorance on this mate, i mean a negative reading by looking at what it say on the tube the strips are in..

There's a colour chart on the back, starting at negative and going up to high reading..mine's negative.. [/b]

i had it were my sugar was too high all i would do is sit on the toilet having a piss while drinking gallons of pop it was that bad. ha

best way to check it staffi is to go to your doctor and get them to do a finger prick blood test and test it on a machine rather than a visul as it would be more accurate. you can by a blood test machine from your pharmacist if that helps.

type 1 diabettic is insulin dependent
type 2 is diet form or tablets (mainly found in older people).
hope this helps.

been diabetic for 25 years and those sticks are very accurate,i have a machine that reads out the result of the sticks but a colour check is not quite as accurate, you can get 2 types
type1 is injection of insulin(i have this)
type2 is tablet and diet(the tablets make your body produce insulin better than it has been)if you are border line ie near the 7 mark then changing your diet to a less sugur one will be much better for you, hope that helps you
