Unless its an error in the exhaust sampling, the AFR is leaning off quickly as the revs rise, indicating that you have reached the maximum duration time of the greys. As said for now turn the boost down to no higher than 28psi, as this is the maximum I was able to map the car to. Above 28psi it started to lean off after 5500rpm.

If you're interested I can simply remap the car on some 750cc injectors and a 5 bar map sensor if you want to ensure reliability at higher boost levels.

Karl

400-420 is well enough for me Karl, well happy with that

think i will save the 5 bar and 750cc's for the escort mk.2.

don't need the escort cos to have any more mods, well, not meaning more power, safer mods yes but then again i could just turn it down a bit more as it will be a second car when the mk.2 is finished.

as said on the phone dave lean extra 3psi on top would force the figures up , but still a bit of a mystery on how a standard head managed it lol

oh and remember no 150mph private road racing until you get that top end fuel sorted

I'm sure 430-440 bhp was seen in the 80's on std RS500's, with just a remap for the 8 inj's.

Here's the link regarding the setup on the DD rollers.

Its about half way down on page 1 where "Pat" talks about how it operates.

that must be a capped boost and about as much a standard head will cope with?

Easy way to explain you dont have 477hp but you do have a lot anyway .

Mark
Dave- top figures

mark- also now means i'm tempted to bolt on a GT30 onto my stock motor for more grunt ...

out of interest what HG you using dave and also MARK what sort of strain would this put on a stock motor ie std head etc as i thought the head culdn't cope with this power wihout being ported slightly????

Dingly,
APTs set up has the temp probe measuring the cell temperature and NOT the airbox temp (which as Mark has pointed out, gives hugely (upwardly)corrected figures) .

Where this method of measuring temps is NOT employed, otherwise it's as wank as engine dynos with cell temp measurement too close to the engine (for the exact same over correction reason ) .

so Mike ive run on APT's DD your saying it overreads Hows comes I only made 270 You mean i might have even less Yet I can make more on say the track n road TAT single roller 285bhp ? Which is meant to be very accurate 1,5% within a SUN engine dyno

rolling roads are sooo confusing

Kev i suggest you read Mikes bit again. He isnt saying it over reads at all. APT keep the temp probe out of the engine bay which stops it sucking in heat from the engine. This stops the computer over correcting the figures and give a more accurate figure.

Matt J

are you sure the exhaust housing is the same size as everyones.

mines bigger than a .63.

its a standard rebuild Matt if all goes wrong with it , with the power i roughly have...400-420 lol, then why bother with the money mods and when something goes wrong it then cots a fortune to get a standard engine to the spec you have been used to.

i'm happy with the spec anyway.

So where i did mine, they would have been better not putting the temp sensor in the air filter....where would they have put it then that would make the rolling road safe.

they did say that the evos were better suited,as Mark said also.

Just clearing up what Mike put thats all mate.

I think APT just have the sensor hanging up in the Booth so it just reads the Air Temp. If its to close to the filter it will pull the heat in from the engine, this will make the computer think the air is hotter than it is. Then it will over correct the readings.

Thats how i understand it anyway mate, might be totally wrong.
