Default PF plumbers..... shower pump question ?

Do I have to fit the shower pump in the airing cupboard and pipe to the shower from there or can I just Tee into the 22mm pipes under the bath that feed the taps and fit the pump under the bath in the space between the joists?

cheers

You'll have to fit it in hot press to take the hot supply to pump from the cylinder. If you don't have a direct take off on the cylinder a few inches down from the top you'll have to fit a surrey flange (dip pipe) . Otherwise you'll draw air back down the vent. Anyhow you'd have some racket down stairs if you put it on the plaster board between the joists!!

depends on alot, personally you want a seprate feed for just the shower, dont tee into existing, you got a suitable power supply aswell? and under bath is a NO NO. What shower you fitting?, does the 22 feed anyhting else i expect by its size it also feeds toilet and sink which means pump on that is also big NO NO.

If using original shower check it can eb pumped first!

Really, cos I've just done it.

Fitted reducer valves on all the pipework that required it (although it was a hot water pump only) and it's fine.

What's a hot press ?

Are the pumps that noisey? I'm fitting a shower bath and fancied a bit more pressure than the tank in the loft can supply.

Hot press/Airing cupboard, where you have the hot water cylinder/Tank. They can be fairly noisey alright, Most have rubber knobs underneath but they still send a buzz down through the house. if you don't have the shower bought already i'd reccommend fitting a power shower, It looks like an electric shower but it has a 15mm hot and cold supply to it and a 1.5 square twin and earth cable to run it. You'd buy one for the price of the pump alone and they more or less have the same delivery of water!

Why is under the bath an NO NO ? is the because of the risks of water dripping from the bath into the electrics ??

I would wire it from a spur on the ring main through a RCD ?

Shower I'm fitting can be pumped.

22m feeds toilet and sink before the bath, I assume that if the shower was working and a tap was turned on air could be drawn into the system ???

thanks

Nothing is pumped yet, I was just being lazy and thinking of taking the pump feed from the 22mm piped that feed the taps on the bath, the more I think about it the worse the idea becomes. If some one was to turn on a tap on the sink the pump might draw in air through the tap if it was downstream ???
