If you don't have a direct take off on the cylinder a few inches down from the top you'll have to fit a surrey flange (dip pipe) . Otherwise you'll draw air back down the vent. Anyhow you'd have some racket down stairs if you put it on the plaster board between the joists!!

What's a hot press ?
Are the pumps that noisey? I'm fitting a shower bath and fancied a bit more pressure than the tank in the loft can supply.
