What sort of work have you been doing up until now?, and why the MOD plod? My old man retired from civil Police and now works for the MOD plod as they let you work longer, they are all firearms trained but their job can be dead boring....
Having said that, they dont seem to have as much crap to deal with as the county forces...I think the money is slightly less as well...Only 14 years til I retire!!

only 'relevant' work is 8 months last year as site security on a butlins stylee holiday park, since then ive been working as a doorman at the weekends. keep thinking about applying to the police force, my boss at the holiday park was a retired met officer and had a fair few discussions with him about it and now im thinking about it seriously again. think ive got the right charachter for it although id want to be based in a city getting in the shit, not just walking the beat in a quiet little and dealing wih bollocks (although i realise ill have to for a while to begin with) the weekend night shifts etc. also the oportunity to progress up the ranks and become speciaised in a certain field appeals to me.
stumbled onto the modpolice careers website and read through it all, sounded very interesting and exactly the sort of thing id like to end up doing, something a little more interesting, challengeing and that requires a bit more than normal policing. just wondered if anyone knew much about it like.

To be totally honest, if you have been on a door and in a town centre "amongst it" the MOD plad will bore you....if you like rolling about in the gutter, you would do better to join your county force. I know several people who have transferred in from MOD because it drove them mad through boredom. It suits my old man who did 31 years on the street and has had his fun, it is a lot slower pace of life. I dont think he has even nicked anyone in the last 2 years!!
Try your county force and then try to specialise,
All the best!!
