Default Starter problem

I got a 97 toyota hiace (power van), some times it starts fine, other times it just clicks or turns really slow, got underneath to see if i had a loose connection etc but cant get to the f**ker, anyone got any ideas or found an easy way to access them? also how hard is it to do a cambelt change on these, diesel by the way, thanks

sounds like a possible earth fault mate remove the earth from engine to chassis clean and re attatch, i had similar recent on a galaxy tdi in the end i moved the earth so it mounted in the starter bolt hole
