Default Manifold Flange Skimming......

I need to have the flange machined on my Tubular Manifold. In my experience I find that Machine-shops usually moan about being not being able to clamp stuff as their excuse to charge you an arm and a leg. How easy is it to machine a manifold flange? Can I expect to have my pants pulled down?

like you said mate it all depends on how difficult it is to clap down

but imo and engineer worth his salt could make up a tempary jig to hold it ?

on prob you may find is that your running an exteranl wastegate and seeing ur pics it may prove tricky with the extra section of pipe going in diff direction thus making it more awkward ?

it need skimming cos its to thick or purely down to flatness ??

my engineering company broke to bits trying to skim my tubular manifold, they said its one of the hardest metals they've had to work with, still only charged me £30, and the bits are £40 each they said

poor buggers

Worse thing / most difficult thing about machining anything is the setup; holding the part securely .... even to the extreme that sometimes custom fixtures are needed to hold parts as there is no other way of doing them.

Guess it depends on the exact design of your manifold, something that can only be judged by actually seeing the part in question.
