The routers are pants!!!!!
Changed back to my old wireless router and its been pretty much spot on since!!!
Go on sky forums i think it is and they'll tell you how to get the username and password for the router - you can then put this into any router and use that!!
You need a bit of computer sense though to do it yourself!!

I'm a BT engineer and most of my work is broadband faults and testing, The white/silver Netgear routers are not very reliable, alot of it is down to people leaving them turned on 24-7, they do get quite hot, and people usually sit them were there not seen so they tend to over heat.
Another thing is the amount of extensions and DSL filters that are fitted, the more that are plugged in the slower the ADSL speed.
I did a test on my home line, with 5 extension and DSL filters i was getting 3.2Mb after removing all the extension etc i was getting 5.5Mb.
If you only have 1 socket i'd try a different modem or router.

Kev what Router you using mate? And yes SKY provided me with a white NET GEAR item, it is on over night and is hot, I have 3x filters on and a long extension up stairs
It doesnt get much worse for me then
What can I get away with filtering? and if I lose the extension and go full wireless that should help too- which adapter is most recommended please, I have a cheap Belkin job but its not installed yet tut tut

I've heard it's best to have the sky one on it's end with the supplied 'feet' as I think heat is an issue with them - mine was redders too!!
I dont know about the adapters as I just use my laptop which has it built in.
I suppose you could always use a long network cable instead of phone extension and have the router down by the master phone socket!?
