Default Decent digital camera

I am going to get the missus a new one (as she has an old 2.8 finepix heck my mobile has better resolution )

I want one that doesn't take AA batteries as hers is for ever going flat.

Its gotta be quite small, so she can put it in her bag.

Where/what should i be looking for, and what you got

Money is NO object (well upto 200 notes anyway.lol)

I bought my Gf one of these, a Ricoh R6

http://www.ricoh.co.uk/products/show...OW=1&camefrom=

Its got 7X wide angel zoom plus the digital zoom which takes it upto 36X but loses a bit of quality. Its also really compact and the lithium battery lasts ages. They do a newer model(R7) which hasnt really got a better spec just looks better . So i bought the R6 as its was dirt cheap for the spec, got it for around 140 from Jessops. Nothing can touch the spec at that price.

Takes wicked photos and videos , cant fault it in the slightless.

Here a couple of pics ive taken

I normally go for Sony Cybershots. Been really pleased with my latest one. Really Thin, big screen, easy to work. Job done!

Id never herad of them either but all the reveiws said they were really good. I was going to get her a Sony but all the ones the same size as this Ricoh were only 3X zoom so i went for the Ricoh and havent regretted it.

Them pics should work now , they would look shit if i didnt have the 7X optical zoom as the subjects were quite far away.

Mega pixels wont matter too much unless she wants to print out A3/A2 pictures in top quality,
I got a Sony cybershot dsc w35 a couple of months ago for £125, then got a 2GB memory card from Amazon for about £10 including delivery
Its a great camera, really small and neat, takes great pictures and video's, so if thats from a budget camera then i can only imagine what a £200 cybershot is like

That Ricoh one does look very good though for the cash

If you want good images, you need to get a dSLR.

My 6MP Nikon D50 gives far better pictures than my girlfriends 10MP Sony compact. *

There's no substitute for the amount of light in a lens - you've only got to look at the pro's at footie matches with HUGE lenses around the goal mouth.

i think some of you need to read the original post agian, its for his gf to replace a shit digi cam, shes not a pro nor wants to be a pro, he's got £200 to spend.
Most £130-200 compacts will be WAY better than what she has now
