Yes for me.......

I know a track day aint racing or anything but you can`t be too careful and after seeing that three door burst into flames at Donnington i`m a little paranoid...

no one would comment if the person wearing the suit was quick round the track, but if you were slow and wearing the suit you'd look like a bit of a nobber imo

It is the most sensible thing to do ,
I dont wear one or a crash helmet when I do the topspeed runs but I already know I am stupid this will have to change,
I have been in a car that had a flash fire once and this did scare the shit out of me still I didnt have enough brains to buy a suit again this will change,
I wouldnt care what anyone thinks just buy a suit and be safe .

I would look like a big Fat wanker in a Baby grow thats why i dont wear one. That and i dont really do enough track days to get the money out of one.

I will get myself a Nomex long sleave T shirt though as got to be better than nothing.

I used to worry people would think I was taking it too seriously and that I looked a cnut....

Now I don't worry what people think.

Racesuit all the way. I drive silly fast cars and why take the risk. Even my Skylines alot faster than some racecars and they wouldn't dream of going out without one.

I don't do the freddy Krueger look. If I get another 10 secs protection to get out of the car. Then I will take it thanks.

I have fuel lines and a fuel tank in the Sierra to...

Nomex me up! underewear and socks and shite too!!!

Exactly........

His burns are horrible and it looks like he will be badly scarred...

A race suit would have given him the 20 seconds or so he needed to stop the car....

To be fair Plato was driving an experimental car.

Up to the user IMO, personally I get irritated having to wear a boiler suit to do Karting so Im probably not the best person to give an opinion. Curiously though Im more than happy to wear a Leather jacket and gloves when on a bike.

I think it depends on how serious you take it if your only doing the odd track/novice day once a year then I wouldn’t bother, I have a suit for my kart and use that once a month if im lucky nowadays, if for E.G. you are a loony like Porkie and plan on doing lotso track days then yes I would say fuck what other people think I will be getting a new suit for the escort! been eyeing up a plain Black Sparco one

I have 4...

2 x single layer
1 x double layer
1 x tripple layer

and never seem to wear any on trackdays

I do however make sure that I only ever wear cotton or cotton type materials when out playing. I never ever wear anything nylon or other similar types of fabric that will melt when exposed to flame.

Iv voted yes as i would wear one, especially if there are fuel tanks/lines inside the car.
If not a full suit, definetly some nomex long sleeve shirt and bottoms, socks and balaclava (sp) underneath normal clothing

With the lack of luck on the Pulsar, Im thinking of it tbh reading this thread

Reason being, my car will either just explode for no reason.... Or magically flip and burn out...

I'd rather wear a race suit now than a load of scars at a later date... If you are going to worry about what people think of you, then you shouldn't be going over the door full stop if you ask me. I'm going to spend 9 months in a burns unit and come out heavily scarred for life but my friends respect me for it. That's just my opinion anyway.

People wear one peice leathers whilst out on their bikes...in fact we tend to take the piss out of the people riding hard in jeans, and some times T-shirts. So Im gonna take this attitude to my cossie when I start doing a few track days in her...why should I risk my safety to keep a few nobbynobsacks in the stands happy

i haven't voted because i can see both sides.

i personally wouldn't as i don't think the level of risk justifies the spend. my car is a normal road car and i don't take risks on the track

Im looking at getting one for next year, like Lee says, if you have a fuel cell and lines running through the car, its the sensible thing to do.

Its not just you though out on track and we all take the risk of something or someone else being mis fortunate...

Safety is

As for looking a nob if your too slow or looking a hero if your fast...

who cares.... you drive to your own/cars ability .....Confidence can grow

New skin doesnt

Yes thats why I have both 2 and 3 layer options, choice depends on the weather when competing, but then we also have flame retardent underwear, gloves, socks and balaclava etc on just to add to the extra discomfort

Sod all that lot for a mess about on a trackday lol
