mankind tried for centuries to fly like a bird, i.e. with flapping wings, but the idea was abandoned for fixed wings that generate lift and thrust. a team of geeks in canada have built a working model that takes off and flies by flapping it's wings looks funny

Ya kinda feel sorry for the guys that have put so much time and effort into something that can only get about 4 foot off the ground!

 

...and that's 4 foot higher off the ground than I would want to be in that contraption!
