Default Solid Engine Mounts? Solid beam/diff mounts?

Does anyone run solid engine mounts in their cossie?

If so how much extra vibration & noise do you get over uprated type?

Also same applies to rear diff mount, I'm thinking of mounting the beam soldidly....has anyone doe this and again what are the disadvantages.

Cheers
Dan

I'm just of the opinion that if the vibrations arent going to be that bad then I can save probably over 200 quid by making my own mounts at work in machine shop...money to spend elsewhere on ym project.

I'm also worred about harmonics causing failure of the mounts, engine arms or worst case the block.

The beam will be ok but will transmit more noise.

Can you get away with the one mount uprated as i've heard only one of them ever fails (can't recall which side).

And how much is reasonable?

Cheers

How did you solid mount the beam? I was thinking of leaving the OE ford bushes in and just solid mounting the diff but concerned it might put too much stress through diff casing and mount.......I could use poly bushes or if fabricate some sort of solid mount where the bush is removed from.

Speak 2 marko polo, i managed 2 pick up a set of solid donuts of ebay

They work really well,

As 4 solid mountin the diff, i had a really simple T bracket made up, got rid of the shaged old bush n just simply bolted it all up, its been fine ive done over a 1000 miles with no problems, a couple of hard launches, can email u some photos if u need, its a cheap option, well worth it

i use the solid beam mounts on the road/track..... doesnt make to much difference noise wise compared to the poly ones really. i use a standard diff mount rather than a poly/soild one , apparently using the two together is noisey!

transforms the handling btw top mod

ive just changed my standard engine and gearbox mounts on the evo for a set of Powerflex poly ones, and the in car vibration has definitely increased a lot, but its only noticeable at idle and when pulling away. I also fitted a twin plate clutch at the same time so dont know if the clutch is contributing towards the higher in car vibrations being felt.

Are them solid mounts on a car at present? If not can you do me a drawing with dimensions so I can have some made please mate!

Failing that I'll have to wait and search ebay for some.

Cheers
