What do you want to know? The old man used to buy loads of these in the late eighties/early nineties when they were for peanuts. I remember being taken to school in one that colour!

I just asked him and all he said was steer clear of the auto.

mate of mine was a Porsche mechanic for the local dealer, and he said of all the cars the mechanics liked taking the 928s out for test drives the most

Personally for £10k + and that type of car, I would go for an old 911.

I can't imagine either of them would be good as an every day car and I doubt people buy them for that, so it'd be a weekend/toy car? In which case I would personally prefer something a bit more iconic than the 928.

Or get a 968? The Club Sports always looked good imo.

All down to taste though

There is a place that specialises in these. only does them. Has about 50 in his yard in various states as I recall! Porsche world did an article on him. Will dig it out.

had all the things to look out for. They can be horific money bits if you take them to Porsche, find a good specialist and I think they are nice cars.

They need GTS wheels though and teardrop mirrors...

Not gay 968 cast off wheels and 1980's mirrors that are on the yellow one!

Very nice to drive IMO, plenty quick and pretty practical. Under £10 k for a minter and a very useable fast car. I nearly bought one last year but decided to be sensible!

One of Tiffs favourite cars ever

Interesting fact.... you know the nasty wank extra bit of metal in the rear window of an XR4i... well I seem to remember hearing somewhere that the Ford designers added that to ape the shape of the 928 and add some glamour to the Dagenham jellymold shape that is the Sierra.

I of course may have dreamt that.... or could have been halucinating even!

So, not only is that not "interesting", it's quite likely it's not a "fact" either?

Totally true. Ford had an ex Porsche designer, who also did the clover leaf alloys a-la porsche, and the propshaft design on the RS1700t which was almost an exact copy of a Porsche one ( cant remember model )

Nothing wrong with the XR4is unique bodyshell

Better than a base model 3dr sierra

there is a silver one on the film 'the business' (that drug dealing one)

looks well. it had the twisted soft star 17s and seemed to be pretty low.

but with shitty small wheels and in an awful colour, they look ming.

Which were totally out of context with a film based in that era and wound me up more than Danny Dyers "acting".

God I'm actually a geek

But at least I wasn't dull enough to post where one of the cars was used in a film.
