Anyone on here now owt about Mini's?
Ive recently got my missus' 998cc mini on the road for here after 2 years stood and a shit load o money to get it running etc, now im having the age old problem of the bastid thing not starting in the mornings, it tries but feels like theres no spark cos there is fuel getting thru, some have said poss damp in the dist cap? Is this common, how do i get round it? Heres a quick pic...
Want to get the engine sorted so i can then get on with repainting her and tidying it up! Anyone know any good forums too?

Best advice you are going to get with a mini engine.
FAR better on the MG setup than on points.
The advance curve in there isnt bad for a 998 either thankfully

PS
Personally, I would book it into somewhere like ML Motorsport for a proper look over if you dont know anything about them.
Loads of silly little things, like the thickness of the oil in the dashpot, or the amount the spring is stretched can effect starting and running, not to mention the mixture adjustment on the carb and what needle its running etc.
Its a very specialist job to get one running "just right" and there are VERY few people these days left who seem to really understand them properly.
Most minis Ive seen worked on by someone like AC from MLM have been totally transformed.
I really couldnt believe some of the ones I went in before and after, total night and day difference for about 100 quid or less!

I know fuck all about cars but the one thing I learn't with my Mini all them years ago was getting a rubber glove, cutting the ends off the fingers and placing it over the dizzy cap allowing the leads to go through the freshly cut holes and keeping out the dampness
Or if that don't work, you could try wanking with said glove if it don't work, nicely textured rubber on the old bellend works a treat

A lot of them are 9v and just get given 12v during cranking for a bit of extra kick!
If you ran 12V all the time it would kill the coil in no time!
