why didn't you say it was verdi's i wuold have vouched for him as i know a few peeps who have their italians mended there

he's got a fair amount of exotica in there, strange when you think it's right next to wickes and there is a dirt bike track the other side

last time i was there he had a lambo engine out and a maserati in bits along with the normal 15 ferrari's scattered about the place

Another one bites the dust................ So, suddenly there's a shortage of E39 M5's.......coz everyone on Passion Ford has one.......

Think thats at least five of us on here......

You guys really should drive one......unfortunately once you have, it's hard to look back. The sound and torque of that M Power V8 just does it for me everytime I start it up. Unbelievably agile for a big (Relatively) car, and once your over a 100mph, that's when you appreciate what they're built for (De-Limited they're good for 186mph according the BMW). And the E39 M5 came third in the EVO Magazine "Best M Powered Car Ever" shoot out.

Still over the moon with mine, and now it's got 35,000 miles from new, so neary ran-in...

i dont know why you didnt buy one instead of ya 530d anyway, similar money

ys there good but not HALF as good as the E60 M5
50 miles a day Carl - thats why - 45mpg in the denzil or 25mpg in the M5

Why didn't you buy one instead of stealing your dads car
So the M5 would cost you roughly £2k a year more in fuel to run....

Hardly the end of the world is it. Thats about £50 a week more!!! nothing if you love them as much as you clearly do and are proper car enthusiast.... which I thought you were!!!

So.... have one back
Im glad an extra £2000 a year IN FUEL isnt 'the end of the world' to you mate, as it is to the average man (including myself), which is why we're not all driving around in 5.0 V8's.

Do we all have to go out and buy the fastest car out there that does 20mpg, to be classed as a 'proper car enthusiast'?
Its £50 a week you joey. HE LOVES M5's and uses it EVERYDAY TO COMMUTE TO WORK!!!

£50 a week extra to drive his DREAM CAR.... EVERYDAY!

Errrr.... its a no brainer isn't it?

Its not like he is an old man with kids to support! He is a young man... its the time to enjoy himself!

Time for pency pinching when you are older.

M5 yourself up my gay friend!

Stupid question...... Do they have traction control???
Not too scared to admit my M3 scared the shit out of me, so went for a S4 instead of an M5.

Like i said, £50 a week is a lot of money over the year to most people, which is exactly why we all dont own a big petrol guzzler as an everyday car, dream car or not.

I was actually considering one a year or so ago.............but couldnt justify the extra 50 quid a week on fuel.

They have DSC......Dynamic Stability Control.....which is BM's version of traction control...... First thing you do is switch it off.

JJ : Yep, but unfortunately to be able to afford it, I have to stick with this crapy job working on ships.

One Day I'll get to put some miles on it.

At least it's nice knowing It's there for when I come home.

And I can play around with this Big old lump......

are you on crack? The E60 is alright, but no way as nice looking as its predecessor. Especially in the colour Jim Green has

One of our customers used to drive an Alpina E39 (B10?) that was the V8 model, it was in dark met purple and looked fucking immense

E39 ....... Dated.

Of course it is......coz it don't look like a box on wheels, with flat panels and square corners. It's got shape to it, the body lines flow....unlike half of the new cars on the market......and you don't have to think what car it might be, coz most of today cars all look the same. It's an old BM, and everyone know's it is.

Some things are better dated, and the E39 Shape is certainly one of them.

JjCoDeX75, how many miles have you actually done in yours then mate and how many does it have now? How have you found maintenance and have you had any problems with it at all?

As i dont do many miles now, im trying to convince myself to go for one again.

Couldnt agree more matey.

And besides - I am just jealous cos you got the colour I was originally after, but every blue one I looked at in my price range at the time was a pup! DOH!

I wish I could keep mine that clean!

Boschman - may look dated, but according to EVO mag, still good enough to beat your E55 supercharged overall in all but a straight line race

Hi matey - Mine when I bought her had a shade under 69k on the clock. Now has a nice 6 figure sum in the region of 106k last time I looked. Needless to say, I do a lot of miles!

If you do - get the facelift version - dearer but waay cheaper on oil - trust me.

I have had some teething issues - MAFs and the usual bits, but touch wood nothing major.

I bought mine with a BMW warranty - so got them to change shit loads, but most of that stuff was not that big a deal.

I know of at least one that has done 200k and is still going strong. Engines are solid, it is the bushes etc that usually wear out.

Verdi. Proper dealer, PROPER cars. His RS500 has to be seen to be believed. He used to have a private plate on that which is his ons name. Now his son is all grown up and has that plate on his own M3.

About 5 minutes from my house Verdi's place. every type of Italian exotica there is to be seen he has had at some stage.

Thanks for that mate. Ive heard about the MAF's actually. So i suppose i shouldnt be put off by mileage in the 100's then, and i assume its like buying any car, get a looked after example with a good history.

Im actually toying with the idea of going for a lotus carlton, but your probably talking an extra £5k, for 'similar' performance to the M5 id say.
