Is there any anti syphon gubbins in the way? Need to empty the tank without taking it off.

 

I know what you up to mate I did mine by driving it untill the dash fuel light came on (assuming you kept the fuel light?) even thou you haven't calibrated the fuel level the empty/reserve tank light will still come in leaving about 5litres left. But I still set that as empty ( 0L )

 

Would it be a stupid suggestion to disconnect a line somewhere & direct it into a suitable canister and whack a constant live/earth to the pump???

 

Thats the thing - my fuel light hardly EVER came on, the needle was off the bottom of the red once and the light never came on!! I'm actually looking forward to having an accurate gauge

I don't actually think I have that much in it tbh, gonna try one of these syphon thingys.

 

take the pipe off the rail as its quipped and run the pump constant.

shouldnt take longer to drain it if its nearly empty.

 

Start the car and pop the return into a can.
